Hi there, I'm Petra! I use they/them pronouns. I'm a writer on a mission- I talk, write, and drabble about an awesome series called the Legend of Drizzt. Like um It's just a mess Spoilers below, friends!

So anyways Wulfgar is back. And he's messing with Drizzt and Catti's romance so we gon throw hands.

and ok I don't like Wulfgar, but as always Salvatore is perfect at describing grief and trauma. Everyone around him understands his pain and has been through their own Erttu but to Wulfgar, he's alone. He's isolated and no one can help him because no one gets it.

And like Artemis you good? He's kinda changing a lot and yes I know he's evil, but it's hard to watch. It gives me hope he'll change with him showing mercy or looking at how worthless his life is even though I know he won't :( But it's okay, I finally met Kimmuriel! I have been hearing about him for so long and he definitely lives up to the hype! As my amazing friend Kaitlyn puts it, he's the original iPad kid and I could not agree more.

So things are pretty sad, but I know they'll get better. Artemis will find himself- for better or for worse, Catti-Brie will make the right choice on who to love, and Wulfgar will come back to himself. But all of these things take time, and I know I have to be patient. If there's one thing good ol' Bob Salvatore has taught me, it's that pain is finite. Those happy times of Icewind Dale will return, but first I have to get through the hard part- and so do the characters.

Well that was more introspective than I intended, but that is all for me! Who else thinks Hand and Kadran should maybe kiss just a little bit? -Petra !

exile, all in one post!

again, I blame Halsin and his trauma for this not being in multiple posts. I finished the whole book before I wrote about it at all Spoilers below, friends!

my rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ no words. it's just GOOD

So I think the hunter is such a wonderful concept. It's a part of Drizzt I forgot about until I went back for my second read of Exile, but I think it is so masterfully done. Most times, I'd find the concept cringey or unprofessionally written, but Salvatore has somehow done it again

Now the thing I love about Exile is that I can say three statements: - this teenager ran away from home and made friends with mushrooms - some gnome without hands accidentally became a father figure to a horse-sized panther, a bird wearing its bones as armor, and a very traumatized elf - Faerun's most beloved dark elf found his first job as a massage therapist to a giant brain And these are all completely true statements

But not to say this book wasn't sad. Clacker made me cry and DEAR GOD, don't get me started on Zin-Carla

But onto something happy!! DININ AND JARLAXLE OH MY GOD I don't care if Dinin kind of hates him, I don't care if Jarlaxle threatens him into joining Bregan D'arthe. They are in love and having a secret affair, carried on in the Legacy.

my rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ fantastic! even though it makes me cry, all 3 books of the dark elf trilogy will always be exceptional to me

So anyways I actually really like Masoj for some reason?? and like it's sad he's dead?? Shut up yes I know he's evil but he was so girlypop

But now Drizzt and Guen are officially besties! Yippee! but Zak's dead so like at what cost

I actually don't have all too much to say. I think it's an amazing book full of both an amazingly intriguing fantasy story and a very deep, thought-provoking narrative. There's so many lessons, metaphors, and figurative languages that Salvatore leave for you and overall, it's just a masterpiece.

my rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ pretty good, but Wulfgar's back :(

I knew it. I knew Erttu's prisoner was Wulfgar, I just KNEW IT.

And now, after multiple confessions of love between Drizzt and Catti-Brie, she's like "oh nevermind my fiance's alive again" like kind of understandable but I was seriously holding out for them!!! And yes I know I'm biased because I don't like Wulfgar, but still. I think it would have been nice to have Zak come back. It definitely would have helped with some of that trauma Drizzt is still hauling around.

And ok all is well becasue my girl Stumpet is safe! When she picked up the shard I was like, "if she goes evil/dies I am actually fist fighting Salvatore" but now I don't have to!!

And ok we got like two weeks to have the gang together and Drizzt is already back on his savior complex again. Like please go to sleep and eat some real food. Please.

Overall, though, it was a great book, and I'm so excited for the next one!

sorry yall, that was an accident. nothing bad is going on, I just got a new game- Bauldur's Gate 3!! I play DND with my family, but we've been so busy and I had some extra cash, so I finally bought it to get my Faerun fix when we can't play and Drizzt's tales aren't fully doing it for me. I just got Karlach, and we're about to travel through the underdark to get to Moonrise towers!! For my first run, I'm playing a drow (who could've EVER guessed) rogue named Petra (who could have also guessed), and I'm romancing Shadowheart! She's just so sweet and I really love her!!

Anyways, that's what I've been up to, but don't worry, I'll try to get back to my regular Drizzt posts. See you guys! -Petra!!

so Passage to Dawn may ruin me

y'all it's wild out here and we're not even on a boat anymore Spoilers below, friends!

Okay so we're going back to Icewind Dale. Yippee. And Catti and Drizzt are also confused as to why Bruenor is there and not in Mithral Hall anymore so at least there's that. Maybe I am right to be suspicious by it??? Idk

And yay, the barbarians are screwed! Berkthegar is a dumb idiot baby and can't lead but here we are. And I love Revjak so I'm sad!!! And Kierstaad is interesting. Like I think his perspective on everything is so peculiar but in a good way??? I don't know if I like him or not but I do enjoy hearing his thoughts on the trainwreck that is now the barbarian tribes

And OKAY, evil crystal shards are cool but LEAVE MY GIRL STUMPET OUT OF IT!!!!! I literally love her so much and if she goes evil/anything bad happens to her Salvatore I will find you

Also, this is probably incorrect, but when Drizzt and Cadderly summoned Erttu, I changed my opinion on his hostage being Zak. Like for some reason I'm convinced it's Wulfgar now??? That just makes sense I guess but THIS IS ALL S0 CONFUSING I JUST WANT DRIZZT TO KISS ONE OF HIS MANY SUITORS AND BE HAPPY IN A FOREST SOMEWHERE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

it's TIME

Sad Girl Autumn means rereading Homeland. Spoilers below, friends!

So anyways, it's Autumn-ish. Sad Girl Autumn. Which means subjecting myself, yet again, to the Dark Elf trilogy.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

I'm about halfway through (just got past the graduation ceremony) and WOW. I forgot a LOOOT of the shit that happened to Drizzt, and realized a lot more of it. Like when I first read the book, my single braincell did not realize that a) That line when Drizzt is first born and Malice says "When his eyes pierce you so, on your life, remember he is your brother" I somehow did not get that meant "hey don't sleep with your brother" b) The scene in graduation where he runs out of the room and Vierna finds him and is like "You prefer privacy" did NOT get that she was GOING TO F-CK HIM HERSELF. HOLY SHIT.

anyways, no wonder he's so sexually awkward.

Also, ZAK!!!!!!! Oh man I love him being alive! He's amazing! And I totally forgot HOW FRIGGIN FUNNY Masoj was. Omg. ICON right there.

And well because I'm still scarred from graduation let's make our final point on Guen and pretend that never happened: HER AND TEEN DRIZZT ARE SO CUTE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Passage to Dawn!!

WE'RE ON A BOAT IN THAT ONE!!!! Spoilers below, friends!

So anyways I'm SUPER happy to see Duedermont again!! And I love the Sea Sprite, so this has been so much fun!

And Rollibard and Harkle. Like first off I LOVE Harkle so I'm pumped he's travelling with us again and I just got to the part where they have that wizard competition with the zombies and that right there had me kicking my feet. I ship the I'm sorry I CAN'T HELP ITTTTTT

AND OMG ERTTU'S MESSAGE I have known from the beginning it would be Zak! And then Drizzt said it was too!! When I told my dad that though he was like "oh so you don't know who it is" so maybe it's not his dad??? Idk I'll keep yall updated

And Bruenor's back at Icewind Dale? I don't think there's any secret to why but it is still a little weird to me but it's okay, him and Regis make up for it :D

Well there goes Siege of Darkness

All done with it and literally BUZZING with excitement! Spoilers below, friends!

my rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An absolutely amazing book! this might be my favorite in the whole saga so far!

Okay, this book was great. The writing was beautiful, it was jam-packed with action, and my favorites had so many badass moments I didn't even mind the minimal amount of Jarlaxle and Gromph page time!

There was just so much growth! Watching Bruenor finally lay his guilt for Wulfgar down and seeing Regis become braver in the face of danger was amazing! And all those emotional scenes, man! I hated Besnell, but when he died I almost started crying. Salvatore creates such beautiful arcs for all of his characters, even minor ones, and watching Berkthgar mature through the war was just as heartwarming as watching any of the main cast overcome their obstacles.

And yay, Matron Baenre is FINALLY dead, so that's nice. And the deep gnomes are in Mithral Hall now! Belwar and Firble have long been favorites of mine, so I'm super excited to read even more of them now that they're allied with Bruenor's clan.

As sad as I am to see the party split again, I'm excited. Catti and Drizzt travelling alone should not only be plenty of fun, but I may finally get my romance! I can't wait to see where Salvatore puts them in Passage to Dawn.

All in all, it was a great book, and one I'll cherish for a while. There was so much development and raw emotion in the span of less than 300 pages. I'll never get how good ol' Bob does it, but I sure am glad that he does.

Siege of Darkness just may kill me.

I legit have 49 pages left and things are not calming down at all so like so much for falling action Spoilers below, friends!

Well okay we've officially gone to war! Yaaay! IT's only book nine and this is Drizzt's fourth war like my guy's not even seventy yet cut him some slack. But I do love reading the war scenes. I think Salvatore handles them so well, and he manages to foster such chaos while also making everything coherent and unified. Props, man, could never do that.

And Regis!!! Him fighting kobolds with his little mace, and looking for spots when his friends need help!! He's changed a lot, but not all of it is bad! And okay. After ALL THIS, Catti and Drizzt need to kiss. It's not okay to keep delaying it like WHAT ARE WE DOING YOU BOTH GOT PAST YOUR TRAUMA NOWPLEASE JUST KISS

So yeah. I'm outraged. BUT THERE'S MORE

Alustriel. FREAKING ALUSTRIEL. She's some big, powerful mage who's like as old as dust and super super powerful. And then she throws like three fireballs and she's like "oh that's all for me guys" like WHAT. NO IT IS NOT. I just really, really hate her.

But it's okay, because I've gotten to see plenty Harkle action! Like I think I'd die for that man he's just so silly and cute.

And no more Gromph, or even Jarlaxle. That makes me sad but it's okay because we do get some Quenthel screen time!! Yet another very unimportant side character who I love wholeheartedly. Like Quenthel can step on me that's fine in fact please do.

Okay so first off. that scene in the prologue where Lolth offers Errtu something that will tempt Drizzt. I swear if it's freaking Zak there will be hands

I'm so fed up with Catti and Drizzt! Please just kiss!!! IT'S NOT PLATONIC ANYMORE GUYS!!! And I thought that confession scene from Catti-brie was real. I HIGHLIGHTED THAT WHOLE DARN PAGE!!!! and then it was just the freaking sword and I think I've acquired anger issues

well yippee, it's the Time of Troubles! and literally everything is going to shit. This is great. Mystra just get your crap together because that's not cool my guy

And well time for a different rant about my obsession with multiple very mundane side character. Sos'Umptu???? Like she's so minor and we hardly see her personality but I LOVE this woman like I'd let her step on me ok AND SAME WITH METHIL?????? yes he's a mind flayer but he seems so nice?? like I want to go out for tea with him???? Oh yeah and Bladen'Kerst. Love her too. Like, I want her to harm me and I want to thank her for it (for legal reasons that is a joke)

Starless Night was... an experience

like wow so many things happened in such a short period of time

my rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ HOLY CRAP!! If I thought the legacy was good, Starless Night was amazing!! This book was so emotional, adventure-packed, and filled with juicy Artemis and Drizzt moments

OKAY first off let's talk plot points I haven't gotten to in earlier posts -Catti and Drizzt yall cannot keep kissing and being like "oh it's platonic" like OH ITS NOT -Catti-Brie and Artemis' alliance showed me they are GREAT frenemies and now I kind of want a little Drizzt/Catti/Artemis polycule -Look I am a slut for pain coming upon my favorite characters so Vendes torturing Drizzt was TOP TIER -Regis being the commander of the dwarves??? THAT IS SO CUTE like this little guy!! He's changed a lot, but I still love him -And OK what's with Dantrag's sword??? Can we not be evil for twelve seconds you're legit just metal -And um. Wulfgar is still dead. Like I swear he was in other books but maybe not like??? hello?? I'm not really complaining still tho

So now, let's talk about Bruenor I feel like I almost cried multiple times reading about him. He's such a fiery character and to see him so broken was just depressing. I will never not sing Salvatore's praise when it comes to grief, especially when he writes it for characters like Bruenor, who seem just impenetrable and like nothing can defeat them. I think it really goes to show how beautiful the series is when something so typically superficial like fantasy is written with such deep emotion.

Now that I have made you sob with me, it's time for the inevitable rant about other miscellaneous things!

Like, yknow. Jarlaxe. Heheeeeee he has me SWOONING. Like I'm not even mad he kidnapped Catti-Brie cause he's H O T .

And again. If Catti and Drizzt don't get together soon, there will be hands.

Short, liking food, and sleey forever? Lazy asf, easily distracted by shiny things, and always running from problems? I may or may not be Regis Anyways, I've been thinking on how relatable Regis is, especially in Starless night for some reason. So here is our halfling friend being very, very real Spoilers (if you care about random excerpts) below, friends!

Like look at him!! He's so cute but also so relatable and now I feel like an unaccomplished slob with no ambitions for their life
