Hi! I'm just getting started on my witch journey and I feel a bit overwhelmed with everything. Do you have any good starting tips or ideas on what to prioritize learning? Thank you!

Learn what you’re interested in first.

Do you love animals? Maybe look into their correspondences

Or maybe history is your jam, try learning about the history of occult beliefs

Or if Plants are your thing, start there.

Maybe mythology is your thing, try some books on the gods and goddesses

Or even if rocks interest you, geology can be very useful and helpful info.

There is no right place to start. It varies for each person but I recommend starting where you’re already invested in your mundane life so it doesn’t feel so heavy

I’d also always suggest protection should be your first priority.

halloween and samhain aren't the same thing...

You’re right! The energy around both vary, however Samhain is a direct link to modern day Halloween.

And they share many similarities.

Samhain, the ancient Celtic festival marks the end of harvest and the start of winter, celebrated from sunset October 31 to sunset November 1.

And because it was believed spirits of the deceased could visit the living on this night as the veil was thin People would dress in animal skins and monster like masks to scare away or disguise themselves from harmful spirits.

The blend of the two really happened around the 8th century, when the church positioned All Saints' Day on November 1, really blending the pagan rituals of Samhain with Christian traditions.

It’s really interesting to learn of the history and blending of traditions over the years. But yes, as you said, they are not the same, but they are deeply intertwined and connected.

Hey everyone! 😊✨

It’s been soooo long since I’ve posted here (about 4 years now! 😱). In that time, I’ve done a ton of exploring, learning, and discovering more about myself 🌱💫. I found comfort in other spiritual beliefs and have really connected with them 💖. But lately, I’m feeling myself drawn back to the path I was on when I first started this blog and shared with all of you 🛤️🌟.

I want to keep the original vibe of this blog, but you’ll probably notice a bit of a mix of the beliefs I’ve embraced these past few years and the ones I held when I began this journey ✨🔮. So, some posts might resonate with some of you more than others, and that’s totally okay! 🤗💭 My hope is that something I share will bring knowledge, support, and maybe even a little peace to someone out there 🌸🌈.

hearth fires are often re-lit, especially using the Yule greenery, as keeping this too long invites the fae folk to stay in the house beyond their welcome.

WHO TO HONOUR

Imbolc celebrations took place in honour of the goddess Brigid! This goddess was considered one of the most powerful Celtic gods.

She is the daughter of Dagda, one of the oldest Celtic gods In some representations.

Brigid in some stories has two sisters both also named Brigid, it’s thought among many that this is meant to represent the goddess in different forms or points in life (personally I love this aspect of them because not many gods actually do age thought the stories and legends. They’re are a few others but I just think it’s cool little thing to note)

it was often found that Brigid’s crosses were made from wheat stalks at this time of year and exchanged and hung in the home to protect from fire damage.

While many people still honour Brigid today, if working with dietys isn’t your thing, many more modern celebrations can include the following:

SOME FUN WAYS

TO CELEBRATE

having a fire this could be as nice as having a bonfire or as simple as leaving a tea light in a bowl outside for them!

for Brigid, you could write intentions on paper and throw them into the fire,

a simple meditation with a candle would be amazing for this day!

You could even make making Brigid a crosses out of pipe cleaners or paper if you have little ones you want to include in the festivities.

Maybe burn some candles in the imbolc colours which are white,pink,red, yellow, green, brown.

if you wanted to indulge in some classic imbolc type food typically it would be dairy products, spicy food or lamb! And Something that would’ve been stored over the winter, smoked meats, dried fruit and nuts!

Often times Candles are placed in windows to welcome the spring and spring cleaning and household purification rituals are common.

this is really just a quick breakdown of this witchy holiday and a few suggestions! Your celebration doesn’t have to be grand or spectacular either I’ve had imbolc where all I’ve done was change the altar cloth to a flowered one! I’ve also had imbolc a filled with ritual and magic! It’s all up to you how to celebrate the day, it’s about welcoming in the spring energy! Releasing that which serves you no more! Even spring cleaning can be associated with imbolc!

What it represents

After the solstice—the shortest day of the year—the days once again begin to grow longer, so it’s thought that Yule was a celebration of the re-appearance of the Sun and the land’s rebirth.

Odin, is a big influence this time of year and historically has been a deity many associate with yule

/: December has been ✨rough✨

I feel like I’ve been so absent from here. So here’s a little life update. So. Worst things first: I lost my job (I know. But what ya gonna do. Life goes on)

Less worse things now. 😂 my boyfriend and I are planning on moving so that’s a big stress and time consumer right now and we’ll if I’m honest losing the job definitely didn’t help with that so we’re falling a bit behind schedule which is stressing me out more 😂😅 not to mention the holidays on top of everything. For as much as I love this blog and all my supporters and friends here I don’t want to keep you in the dark about what’s going on or why it’s been so quiet here lately. Honestly I just simply don’t have the energy to maintain it at this point in my life. Maybe in a few weeks or maybe once I learn better time management (whenever that will be 😂)

I love this blog and I’ve put my heart into it. But for as wonderful as I think it is, life isn’t always so easy or pretty or aesthetic 😅 so this is to keeping it real and to hopefully offer some insight into why things have reallllly showed down here. Overal id say my mental health is kinda on a downward trajectory😂 but I know things will turn around. I just need to spend a little time loving my mind at the moment and making sure I take it easy. 🥰 thank you so much for understanding 🥰
