“I really have, too,” he responded when she mentioned getting too used to the quiet. “My mind grows all too idle. A dangerous thing.” There really was nothing interesting to do since the fall of Jack. He’d revisited the site of the Vault a few times… never anything new. Just the slagma, the strange violet-lined stones, and of course the peculiar mountainsides, with those figures looking overhead. He found himself staring at those things more than he ever wanted to.

He listened intently as she spoke, and though he didn’t show it as well, he was just as happy to see her as she was to see him. He’d never been one for the company of others until their adventure across Pandora. “I’m usually here. If not, do not go looking. Do try my ECHO.” That was the best way of contacting him these days. If he didn’t answer, it meant he didn’t want to be in anyone’s company.

"Of course," Maya smiled in return, "I will. You know you can reach me through mine anytime, as well." Her ECHO had been relatively silent as of late, save of course for the desperate pleas for company she received from Shade more often than she would have liked. "If you're ever in need of some company, you know how to find me. Or if your scrawny ass needs some help out there," she joked, laughing and tapping him lightly on the shoulder with a tattooed fist, "give me a call." She knew perfectly well that Zer0 was completely capable of fending for himself, probably the most out of any of them. She realized that her offer for aid may have been more for her benefit than anything else; sitting in Sanctuary was damned boring, and there hadn't been any major threats on the surface anytime she'd headed down to scout. The occasional missions from Tannis (lately she hadn't stopped babbling about something to do with seismic readings and mucus) provided distractions she'd accepted gratefully, and clearing out bandit encampments was all well and good, but not much of a fitting test for her skills. A chance to run with the big boys again would be an opportunity she wouldn't easily let slip by.
