11. things you said when you were drunk
It was a peaceful day on the Thousand Sunny. Brook was playing music. Nami and Robin were talking together and laughing and giggling away while Luffy, Chopper, Franky, and Usopp all danced to their heart's content. All of them had been drinking from a barrel of wine that they had gotten on the last island that they had visited.
Sanji was currently in the kitchen and cooking up a snack for the little party that they were having. It would be best to have something to help their stomachs due to the amount of alcohol that they were consuming. Most of them were wasted at this point. Sanji hadn't drank much himself and instead focused on making the delicacy.
Sanji had been just finishing up whenever he had felt arms curl around his torso and he had stopped mid-act. He didn't have to see their face to know exactly who it was.
"What are you doing, stupid cook?" It was Zoro. His voice was slurred. It was clear that he was intoxicated. Probably far more than the others. Zoro did sure love his alochol. He had to have drank a lot to get to this point.
"Isn't it obvious, Marimoo?" Sanji shot back. "You're drunk."
"I am not." Zoro replied.
"Your voice says otherwise." Sanji mumbled as he took his moment to finish what he was doing.
The two of them had fallen into a peaceful silence as Sanji plated the snacks. Zoro didn't move. He just kept his grip on the blonde man. Sanji hummed softly to the sound of Brook's violin until Zoro had spoken up again.
"Your cooking is amazing." It made Sanji nearly drop what was in his hands as he felt the heat rise on his face. He knew that. Sanji took great pride in what he did. Hearing it from Zoro -- even at this point of being together -- still caught him off guard.
"I know." Sanji said bluntly. "Are you just going to say things that I already know."
"What would we do without you?" Zoro continued, as if he was completely ignoring what Sanji had said.
Sanji inhaled sharply and turned his head to look at Zoro's flushed face. Zoro's eyes were locked straight on him. The flush on his face showed the intoxication but his eyes were reading truthful.
"Starve." Sanji stated as he took another drag of his cigarette. He puffed out the smoke and flicked off the ashes. "Anything else that you gotta say, Marimoo?"
"If you ever left..." Zoro's voice trailed and his embrace tightened. "I would hate every single second of it."
Sanji couldn't breathe. There was something about the way that Zoro was saying it. His voice sounded a lot more exposed and vulnerable than Sanji was used too.
"You know you mean a lot to me, right?" Zoro continued.
"Marimoo--" Sanji started but was stopped by Zoro's gaze flickering over his face. Sanji softened and smiled. "You wouldn't be saying this if you weren't completely wasted."
"Probably." Zoro admitted, "But I never need to say it though." Zoro stopped speaking, his eyes lingering over Sanji's face. "You have beautiful eyes. It's like looking at the ocean." If Sanji's face wasn't red before, it was now.
"Stop saying such things!" Sanji gasped.
"Shut up, stupid cook." Zoro grumbled, "Accept what I have to say."
"I don't think I have much of a choice." Sanji murmured.
"I mean it." Zoro started again as he buried his face into Sanji's shoulder. "You are important to me. Don't you ever forget that."
"I think you might forget that you said it before I do." Sanji whispered.
"Then, I will just have to say it again." Zoro stated. "Just stay with me."
"Always." Sanji murmured as he turned and Zoro stepped back enough to let him. Zoro had been the one to lean in and pressed their lips together.
The kiss didn't last long. Zoro had pulled back and his eyes were that same soft and gentle. One that one might not associate with Zoro at all.
"This is just the alcohol talking." Sanji murmured.
idea somewhat based off of a thing that literally happened to me and a friend once irl-
whumpee sick with a fever and caretaker trying to check whumpee's temperature by feeling their forehead. caretaker has one hand on whumpee's forehead and one on their own to try to feel if whumpee is warmer than them, but can't feel a difference. friend/third character steps in and feels whumpee's forehead and is confused how on earth caretaker isn't be able to feel the warmth coming off whumpee. third character feels caretaker's forehead to find that caretaker ALSO has a fever, but is so tired/overworked/oblivious that they genuinely haven't realized that they're sick too.
I have finally dug myself out of my hole regarding my other fandoms, and I will be returning to work on my old WIPs that haven't been touched in a long time! Updates to come soon!

I'm not exactly sure on an ETA, and to be real, I try and not promise when an update will come just so I don't accidentally get hopes up. I have been working on the chapter but haven't finished it yet. Though, once I work on it again, I can probably get it done quickly.
I'll get it added to the update quickly list! I've been making my rounds of my works and trying to update all the ones that I can. It's just taking some time.
AO3 has recently seen a rise in guest spambot comments making false accusations about work creators or other users. For example, they may claim that a particular user is discriminating against minorities, trying to hide the fact that they use AI, or are at risk of having their works stolen or deleted.
These comments often copy existing AO3 usernames in order to make their accusations seem more legitimate. They may also try to lure people onto other platforms (similar to the art commission scam), or use fake links that actually lead to pornographic images.
As always, we recommend that you do not click on any suspicious links or give your contact information to scammers. Instead, simply mark the comments as spam or report them so that the Policy & Abuse committee can remove comments left by these spambots.

How to recognize this kind of spam:
The comments come from guests, not logged-in users.
The comments may start with praise for you and your writing, trying to lull you into a false sense of security. Or they may claim that you are a bad writer, trying to make you too upset to realize that the comments are fake.
The comments may accuse you or another user of promoting discriminatory beliefs, deceiving fans, or similar behaviors that might cause other people to shun or harass the accused individual. They may claim that they checked social media to find that the accused user is "brazenly sharing hateful content" or "bragging about using AI".
The comments are often pleading or angry, asking you to "stop lying to your readers", "don't remove the AI prompts from your work", or suggesting that you "consider adding more diverse characters" to "repair the trust you've lost with your audience".
So far, these comments have all been from guests. Our advice is to flag them as spam to better filter them out.
To help train our automated spam-checker to block similar guest comments in the future:
If the comment is on your own work:
Go directly to the comment on your work, either by clicking on the link in your email or in your AO3 inbox.
Click on the "Spam" button to mark the guest comment as spam and remove it from your work.
Note: The "Spam" button only appears when viewing a guest comment directly on your work. This is because the AO3 comment inbox is merely a copy of the work's comments – deleting a comment from your AO3 inbox does not delete the comment from the work itself.
If you see comments like these on someone else's work:
Feel free to let the creator know the comment is from a bot, and that they should mark it as spam.
You can also report the comments as botspam via the Policy Questions & Abuse Reports form linked at the bottom of every page on AO3.
If you are reporting multiple guest comments, please submit only one report, and include all comment links in your report description. (You can get the direct link to any comment by clicking the "Thread" button on the comment, and then copying the URL of that page.)
As of December 2025, bots have also left guest comments harassing users by:
threatening to report you/your fic to the authorities or your employers
alleging security concerns like your email being compromised or spyware on your computer
claiming that they know your address and are going to visit you at your house
saying that you will die alone and unemployed over the holidays
What these bots claim is not true. These accusations do not mean your work will be deleted or that your accounts are insecure. We recommend that you mark these comments as spam following the instructions in our previous post.

I have! I love Rising of the Shield Hero. It's one of my favorites. Though, I need to catch back up on it. I've been sort of neglecting getting back to it.
5+1 Things is another classic fandom trope. It's a structured fanfiction format.
It usually goes like this: 5 times X happens and one time it doesn't or 5 times X doesn't happen but one time it does.
So in the fic you will have five different segments in which a similar situation occurs. And then you will have a twist in the last, the +1 segment. It's basically an emotional payoff or a reveal. Something has changed from all the other times before.
This can also involve different people in each segment that the main character is interacting with, but the +1 is finally the right person.
It also doesn't have to be strictly 5+1. You can also use only 3 or 4 or maybe 6 other times, as long as there is change in the end for the last one.
Here are some examples, plus my masterlist of 5 + 1 prompts:
5 times they fell asleep on the phone and one time they fell asleep in each other's arms.
5 times Person A has to save Person B and one time Person B returns the favor.
5 times Person A calls Person B by a pet name and one time Person B finds one for Person A.
best trope: "ugh I guess I'll tolerate you for the time being, but this is a conditional, tactical alliance, and the second I get what I want, we're parting ways" to "you are the only good in the world and I will protect you to my dying breath"
