This is exactly what they wanted. They both knew that if they chose to be "us" alone, just two of them, without earthy things, they wouldn't be truly happy. I saw people saying "why are they not like Gabriel and Beez, just left", but now Gabe and Beez are no longer exists too anyway.
They're so meant to be together, the are connected on the level that is deeper than everything ever was that they find each other in every universe and are eternally together
Yes it is bittersweet and it is sad in smaller picture, but in bigger picture its also beautiful.

it upsets me to no end when people do this, and in a similar vein, not separating actors from the characters they play. Shipping real people is a straight up creepy thing to do, it is a total breach of privacy for the people involved and we as fandoms should not be normalizing this
This came up because after the end of good omens I started interacting with fan stuff of it a bit more and I started rewatching staged so my feed is full of stuff about them
and with it I see a bunch of people shipping the actors and taking their in-character acting for things about them as people. IF IT LOOKS LIKE THEYRE IN LOVE ITS BECAUSE THEY ARE PLAYING TWO CHARACTERS IN A ROMANCE. I’ve also seen people misinterpreting their (David and Micheal’s) close friendship into something romantic. It’s one thing to ship characters in media, it is a completely different thing to do it to real people, especially since you have no idea how they actually feel about it.
While there are some nuances to this and grey areas (like staged, where they play characters of themselves) it is still something that we as fans need to be more aware and sensitive of.

So I’m reading so much hate for GO3 today. I had so much mixed feelings after it all but then I sat down with ALL of my complicated feelings and worked through it all while my kid went to watch some other random cartoon.

The most important point I think a lot of haters are missing is that their decision at the end is so them. It’s classic Aziraphale and Crowley. To the world. The WORLD! They’ve sacrificed themselves to save the world they love, the world where THEY fell in love with each other. Aziraphale was resigned yes, but he knew. He absolutely knew what Crowley would choose, and he wouldn’t be the being he fell in love with if he had chosen any different.
And so so many people saying that Asa and Crowley weren’t really them. But are they not? Asa had Aziraphale’s pinky ring! His name is literally Asa Fell - A.Z. FELL (ZED not ZEE apologies to our American friends!) Crowley’s name is still his CHOSEN one from our favourite flashback! He’s an astrophysicist! Asa wearing a bloody bow tie at dinner! He works in a damn bookshop for g- s- someone’s sake!
What would have been the point restoring everything to before where free will was just an illusion? Where everything could be fobbed off as “ineffable”. Back to a world where they spent 6000 years pining and yearning and so, so, much time wasted not being able to be together. Where they could be complete. Asa and Anthony may not have had the angel and demon’s histories, but that doesn’t erase what the demon and angel did to save the world. This version of them didn’t have eternity to waste. They had a chance and took it. And I love, love, love that Az was the one who went for it.
And I don’t believe for a second that God didn’t mean for them to find each other again. The names, the pinky ring, all their little quirks from “before”. It IS them. Yes, a different them than what we’re used to, a them without any fancy powers and tragic backstory, but them nonetheless. And I have to admit that part when Crowley goes “you have no idea how much that hurts me”. I honestly thought WHAT IF - Crowley remembers?! And then: “Did I do something wrong?”?!!! Wtf so many phrases harkening back to BEFORE. I even thought IS IT BECAUSE AZ IS ACTUALLY SELLING A BOOK - for half price no less!!!
People, please, come on.
And yes, I hear you - WHERE’S OUR KISS?? I want that too. But also - does everything have to be so in your face? Did you want full on snogging and a sex scene too? Go read a fanfic then! Or watch Heated Rivalries! Do you not see that the entire last 20mins is an ode to their love?? That whole monologue when Az told Crowley that he was the best of them, that he was the only one of them who genuinely believed that there had to be a sensible purpose to it all - THIS WHOLE THING WAS WAY BETTER THAN A KISS. And the two fingers to his lips - omg again that is SO SO THEM! I ‘m crying just writing about it now. This bit: “Why give me Crowley? Why make me complete and then take it away??”. How did Crowley respond?! Was he surprised? Was he shocked that Az has said this to GOD? He just casually as you please - leant over and told Az not to expect an answer. Cos it’s not news to him. They have been in love for thousands of years, they know it, God knows it!
Take it from someone who’s been married to the same person for the last 16 years, and together for another 5 years before that. Yes, yes I’m old, whatever. But for some us, that is what love looks like. It doesn’t need to be loud; it doesn’t need to be explicit. Love is telling someone he was always the best of all of you; not the demon everyone says he is. Love is giving him the choice to decide your fates - cos you know, you know that if it was up to you that you would choose to never hurt him again, to choose not to be the reason you are separated once more. It is knowing AND accepting that his choice will always be the one you knew he’d take from the beginning - cos that’s just who you fell in love with - the best one of them all.
And then after all that, after just two fingers pressed to lips - they still find each other? They get their cottage in the South Downs? How is that not the most poetic, most deserving ending for our pair?
And it feels like im the crazy one, when everyone is screaming how they are canon or how blind people are who don't see "the ship"
And no, im not asexual, and i really don't know where I stand if im a aromantic, but i just assume everyone are platonic until they say they aren't. Like, sometimes i just don't see right away romantic energy (even if they "flirt" or "joke"). And I hate when people say "they have so much chemistry with each other and with no-one else" as if friends can't have insane chemistry. And if its the same gender characters, people say if they were opposite genders they would definitely be a couple... And I just think it's because many people can't comprehend having opposite-sex friendship without wanting to date..? Idk
Or completely forgetting about queerplatonic relationships
And it's not that i don't want to see a romance, i just don't see/or want only romance. Like romance is not the most important to me, if they stay friends-cool, if they become a couple-cool. Like if they just together in any form of relationship is good for me.
And it really makes it hard to be in fandom culture sometimes, especially when fandoms are a majority of hard-core shippers...
So im here not often because honestly...every time I see something stupid from weird people who likes to harass other's wife's and partners I feel unsettling...Very smart but very unsettling anyway.

So... a sweet observation: in a lot of photos of Georgia and David together, he's almost always in G's space. In most of their selfies he's leaning into her, their cheeks are pressed together, or he have his cheek on her head. They almost always somehow touching each other, in a lot of their pictures they are affectionate sweethearts. I find it so fucking sweet i cant even express...
