@photoboothpi
Haven't used it since March... But the Good weather is keeping me on the streets, ill get back to this project once it gets cold. Today I brought it to the office to have some fun.
A friend was asking about the assembly of the booth so I took pics of it.
The white thing is a breadboard (he loved the name) aka protoboard. It’s an easy way to test the connections, in mine you can see the 4 led lights, plus 2 buttons. It also has the resistors for the lights and the connection to the big red button.
Once I have the final case, I’ll have to transfer the connections in the breadboard to a perma-proto (the white card with the holes) and solder everything.
The cables (jumper wires) from the breadboard go to the GPIO (general purpose input/output) on the RPi.
The white tape with the green end is the camera, it’s tiny, around the size of a phone camera. Currently it’s hanging from the top of the box with some wires (lo atamo’ con alambre).
The thing behind the camera is the bottom part of the button. It has 2 wires from the trigger and 2 for the led inside. I’ve been trying to use the led but it’s too dimmed, need to work on it.
Finally after trying several cables, I was able to connect the RPi to the TFT monitor! Now I need to get the right settings for it...

Delays
I tried to connect the display and didn’t work. Gotta try again.
I also have to go hunting for a case. I’ll first try to find something in a flea market, if I can’t find anything, I’ll go for some custom case, wood and/or acrylic.
I’m also trying to get some overlay text in the photo preview, saying something like smile… Or maybe random texts, like “fix your hair”, “really?”, “beautiful”. But I haven’t had much time to do it.
Built A Retro Gamming Machine Using Raspberry Pi
OMG the cuteness!
Let’s build some cables!!! Well, not yet, still some parts missing.
So this is the big news of the day, I won’t belabour the details. What is missing concerns me more: WiFi and BLE. Please oh please can we add this to the Raspberry Pi in the next version.
On the pluses:
runs Windows 10, if that’s your bag. A big big win for Microsoft (and its IoT efforts)
runs Ubuntu (aha - older versions weren’t powerful enough)
"roughly the same form factor" - a big negative if cases won’t work because of the "roughly"

And cardboard (temporary) housing for the photo booth is set!
And we got a temporary place for the big red button!
Wanted to watch TV and continue on the project… Building a temporary housing for the pi + big red button + mess of cables. Missing an exacto knife or however is called so a corkscrew would work!
Took him to visit the office :-) his new SD card is ready, tonight I'll set it up (again, but it should be easier and faster).
Last night I tried to set up the Xbox 360 controller... Failed :( once I move the files for the photo booth to the new SD card, I'll try again and might try a start from scratch.
