Also saw some small plants among grass and moss. Looked kind of like a miniature forest. Snapped a basic shot with the 16-35, then decided to try some freelensing for the first time. Not bad, but I need more practice.

I also came across these two fun-loving and gorgeous pups when we got to the little pond. Bruce and Molly - both about one year old, Australian mix. Bruce was loving the water. Molly kinda wasn't having it.
Wow. I haven't been on here for a while. Bout time I start being a bit more active.
Went on a hike this past Monday with a couple of awesome friends. It was a shorter day than my previous hikes, but still a lot of fun. Hopefully the next one we'll have more time to spend at the water.
Gus, VERY relaxed on a lazy Saturday afternoon. #dog #Gus #sleeping #tongue #cute
I love that my dogs are so well-behaved and patient.
Day 237: "Ready To Go"
Got an early morning shoot tomorrow morning. Borrowed some gear from a friend to make sure I had everything I might need.

Day 235: "8 Years"
Tonight Dawn and I went to Makawao Steak House for our 8th year anniversary dinner. 8 years...it doesn't feel like 8 years has gone by. I suppose that means I've enjoyed myself. I guess I can keep her around a little longer.

Day 234: "High(er) Capacity"
I've been wanting to go to the gun range more often than, oh, once a year. And after our last visit, I realized that I really need more magazines so that I can better utilize the 20-minute firing rounds. The mag only takes a few seconds to load, but it really does kind of kill my momentum. So I went out and bought two more mags. I got them in a higher capacity than the 8-round mag my gun came with, but unfortunately, Hawaii being the anti-freed... anti-gun state that it is, the largest magazine you can legally own for a handgun is 10-round capacity. So I get two more rounds per mag. With all three filled, I can have a nice long 28-shot streak. Not bad, I suppose. I'd probably reload each mag once within the 20-minute round to allow me a 56-shot firing round. And all things considered...I dunno if I could afford to blast off more than 56 rounds every 20 minutes.
That is...until I buy all my ammo loading tools...

Day 233: "Unusual Clouds"
Another example of the wires killing my shot. Oh well. The odd clouds still make for an interesting focal point. I've never seen clouds quite like that before. I've seen those stringy-type of clouds, but usually among a huge collection of them. Never just a couple floating around other, more puffy clouds.
Also, is it just me, or does it seem like they're trying to form the Pizza Hut logo?

Day 232: "Wired"
The wires in front of my house have annoyed me since we moved here...but now they're just starting to piss me off. There have been many times when I'm sitting down, watching something or playing on my phone and I look outside and I see some gorgeous scene right in front of me. But these wires...they make getting a good picture difficult, if not impossible. And by the time I move down the street to a better vantage point, the scene has gone.

Day 231: "Dress to Impress"
Although Sunday was more of a relax day for me, I still took the time to check emails for the biz. And among them was an invite to a grand opening party for Maui's newest event venue. We provided the video services for the very first event that was held there and everyone seemed to be thoroughly impressed with our work.
This party is a great networking opportunity for us. The invitation said the dress code is "casual cocktail chic" and I want to make sure I'm dressed appropriately. Besides, being on Maui where "casual" isn't quite enough to describe most events here, I don't often have a reason to get dressed up. I've selected my outfit for the night (thanks to Dawn and my sister for providing some input) and am very much looking forward to next week Wednesday.

Day 230: "Midday Snack"
Sunday. Nice, lazy day. Day to just sit around, play some CoD and watch some Sons of Guns on Netflix.

Day 229: "Better late than..."
Slipped up again. Got this photo about 30 minutes after midnight. But I have no regret. I got a little ahead in my work and then decided to take some time off to play a little on the XBox, which I haven't really done for a while. It felt good to unwind. Especially when I can play some CoD with one of my friends.
When I looked over at the clock I realized I hadn't taken a photo, and I saw Gus lying in yet another one of his cute positions. I picked up my phone, snapped a few shots, then went back to killing.
It was a good night.

Day 228: "Brinner"
Dawn recently signed me up for some IHOP thing and I got a free meal for my birthday! Who doesn't like free food? Especially breakfast food. Especially at dinner. I almost never eat dinner food when I go to IHOP. And almost always end up getting the same thing - the Breakfast Sampler.

Day 227: "Sweetest Comback in the History of Ever"
FINALLY. After a month of having been on most other shelves, Maui stores got the Twinkies back! And not only that, but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Cupcakes have also returned! Dawn actually bought me a box of each last night and later this morning I found out that my sister also bought me two additional boxes of Twinkies.
My people know me well.

Day 226: "Stopwatch"
Just out for drinks with Dawn and a friend/colleague. Nice laid back night.

Day 225: "Filter Fun"
So I've been playing around with the 10-stop black glass here and there. But I've also had a graduated ND filter lying around. Not to mention my very pricey polarizer which I barely use. I want to change that. I need to start utilizing the polarizer a lot more, and I really want to play around with the grad ND. Though I think I might need a stronger one with how powerful the sun is on Maui.
Of course, I can mess around with layering and selective exposure changes in post, but to me it feels more rewarding to get as much as possible of your final image captured in-camera. That or I just really like playing with toys.
