How much do you think the PETs cost?
Pretty much everyone has one so it can't be too expensive...maybe $20 to $30?

MEGAMAN: BATTLE NETWORK 2: A Fantastic Sequel (Long read and Spoliers for BN1 and 2 below)
So I recently finished MEGAMAN: BATTLE NETWORK 2 (known in it's native Japan as BATTLE NETWORK: ROCKMAN.EXE 2) for the first time (This is my first time going through this series in general, actually). Battle Network was Capcom's attempt at modernizing Mega Man, by the 2000's when these games came out, the Internet was slowly being integrated into daily life, no longer were kids daydreaming about advanced robots saving the day, they were thinking about Internet warriors!
Capcom took note of this (and the financial success of Pokémon) and created Mega Man Battle Network, an RPG Adventure taking place in an alternate Mega Man timeline where everything has a computer, from your smoke detector to your mom's fucking purse, the computer in these things are kind of like a little neighborhood, and you can visit these little neighborhoods with a device called a Smartpho-I mean PET (Short for Personal Terminal). These things house your NetNavi, basically these little anime AI assistants that help you out and make your life easier by sending and receiving E-Mail to your friends, calling people, and do practically everything a modern smartphone can, however this has also led to a wave of NetCrime dominating the Internet, spear-headed by the criminal syndicate WWW. However, thanks to 5th grader Lan Hikari, his NetNavi MegaMan.EXE and an ever-growing colorful cast of friends and allies. The WWW has been thwarted, however a bigger and badder NetMafia is here fill the vacuum WWW left, calling itself "Gospel."
And so the adventure continues...
Onto the game itself...our last Cyber Adventure was heavily flawed but showed promise,, underneath godawful puzzles and horrendous maps was an amazing combat system that could be expanded on in future games, so does Battle Network 2 improve on Battle Network 1?
I would say yes, MegaMan Battle Network 2 is massively superior to MegaMan Battle Network 1 in pretty much every single way and here's why:
GRAPHICS AND ART STYLE: (101/100)
Not much has changed here, but I do like the updated skin colors for Lan, his mom, and the generic kid NPC in specific, the first game made them look like weird puppets so I'm glad that was fixed, some people might've not noticed, and it might've just been my TV. So here's a quick example with Lan:
BN1
BN2
(It's a slight difference, I know)
GAMEPLAY: (98/100)
Combat: (13/10)
If you played BN1, you know what to expect here, combat takes place on a 6x3, 18 square grid, MegaMan has 9 squares to himself, as do the enemies, the Mega Buster is here, but it's pathetically weak without upgrades, MegaMan's real arsenal is Lan's wide and versatile library of Battle Chips, a "deck" of "cards" that give MegaMan special abilites like a cannon, sword, and even altering of the battlefield itself to his advantage! The Combat in BN1 was good enough, but BN2 takes it to a whole new level! New chips to collect, funner bosses and there are new panels that can either hinder or help MegaMan that add extra strategy to fights. But the biggest improvement is that the boring Elemental Armors are replaced by a new system called...
"Styles!"
Depending on how you play the game, MegaMan will unlock a new Style around the 4th Chapter. The Styles are:
NORMAL STYLE:
GUTS STYLE:
CUSTOM STYLE:
TEAM STYLE (Or Brother Style in Japan):
SHIELD STYLE:
And one secret Style, HUB STYLE (Or SAITO STYLE in Japan):
Styles are really cool because the game reacts to how you play and gives you extra tools to go wild, it really feels like you can make your own MegaMan, and I love customization in games. My only compliant is that the element is randomized, they should've made the Style Change have no element, but you can buy Elemental armors like the one from the first game to further customize it.
But overall, a massive improvement on the first game
Exploration: (10/10)
It was still fun exploring the Internet, and now it's more clear what to do to progress the game, which was one of my biggest gripes with the first game
Puzzles: (6/10)
The puzzles have seen a GIANT improvement and now are actually fun to do, the first few dungeons were fun, but unfortunately, they see a dip in quality in the later half of the game, the KnightMan dungeon sees you run through a path while avoiding enemies that can steal your health and transport you to different areas, it was quite miserable, boring and repetitive, the FreezeMan Chapter is basically a string of fetch quests back to back around the entire Net at that point, which was also really boring and dull, The final dungeon before the final boss was slightly better but still boring
STORY: (88/100)
The story here was slightly better than the first game, I love Wily but Sean Obihiro has a much better motive and backstory compared to him and you just can't help but smile like a fool when everyone comes to do their best to help Lan out, my only real gripe is that the events of BN1 feel kinda forgotten, nobody mentions MegaMan's real identity as Hub Hikari, Lan's deceased twin until right before the final boss and the consequences of Lan activating Hub.bat, Lan taking any damage MegaMan takes is pretty much forgotten, which sucks because it was my favorite part of the first game's story.
Also, the devs got really diabolical for some reason and created some weird dialogue:
(No thanks)
(Okay this one wasn't too bad)
(Some guy also tells Lan that he should suck his mom's milk. How the fuck did this game get an E Rating)
MUSIC: (120/100)
It's impossible for a Mega Man game to have a bad soundtrack and this is no exception, the Battle Theme, Boss Theme, and Undernet themes were standouts for me personally
DIFFICULTY: (60/100)
If I had to rank BN1's difficulty, I'd give it a 50/100, but BN2 really ramps up the difficulty, you actually have to modify your setup to take advantage of bosses and their elemental weaknesses
(Also quick side note, they changed MegaMan's death animation, in the first game, it was the standard Blue Spiral explosion that you'll recognize from the Mega Man platformers, in BN2, he just turns white and fades into nothing, I like BN1's death animation better)
CONCLUSION
Overall, MEGAMAN: BATTLE NETWORK 2 improves on its predecessor in pretty much everything that matters. A tighter narrative, better gameplay, and more bombastic combat puts it leagues above Battle Network 1
I've learnt online that Battle Network 3 is a candidate for the best game in the series, even better combat, more chips and a Tournament arc! (I love Tournament arcs). Hell, even the devs think it's the best, when the Battle Network development staff was polled, the majority considered Battle Network 3 as the best in the series, so I feel like I'm in for a wild ride.

Ranking all the Styles (based on design, since I haven't played through 2 or 3 yet)
Just thought it would be fun to have a couple of these types of while ya'll wait for the big stuff
Let's begin
#9
GROUND STYLE
I don't really hate any of these designs, but this one is the "least good," if you know what I mean. I think giving the top and helmet more detail would help balance the design out.
(Why does this art make it look like he stinks lmao)
#8
BUG STYLE
Another design that isn't bad, but the others are far superior. It has a cool, glitchy, techy vibe that fits the series and looks cool. It's almost like you're looking into MegaMan's wiring, which reminds me of the "Inside-Out Suit" from Spider-Man: No Way Home.
#7
TEAM STYLE
I really like the helmet of this one, and the extra details on the boots and gloves. I always think it's cool when characters have their elbows extended like here
#6
NORMAL STYLE
You can't go wrong with the OG, this design has really grown on me, from the hair to the colors. It's still Mega Man, but it has its own identity
#5
CUSTOM STYLE
I REALLY like the bigger backpack. I just like it when characters look like they carry weapons on their back; it looks cool. It also shows he has a "bigger bag of tricks" because this Style lets you use more Battle Chips in a fight. I also like the gems.
#4
GUTS STYLE
I LOVE the badass giant arm and bigger shoulder pads. It feels really tanky. The only thing I'd change is bulking up MegaMan a bit and giving his helmet more details (Bigger fins, maybe?)
#3
SHIELD STYLE
What I like about this design is that it emphasizes defense while still looking badass, the padding on the boots, shoulder, and mask, and of course, the giant shield on the arm.
#2
SHADOW STYLE
Man, this design is badass. I love the helmet and the "wings?" on his back. I also like the Shadow Armor from MMX6. I just love it when Mega Man cosplays as a ninja
#1
HUB STYLE
This design is simple, but so ethereal to look at, fitting for MegaMan's most powerful transformation. I love the colors and the transcendent vibe this design carries. It really reminds me of Ultra Instinct from Dragon Ball in how the MC's strongest form is just a recolor of their base form.
Well, that was my ranking! What do ya'll think? Feel free to share in the comments!
Mega Man: Battle Network: A Flawed, Yet Solid Start (LONG READ AND SPOLIERS FOR MMBN1 AHEAD)
So, I recently finished Mega Man Battle Network for the very first time, I've played this game a bit before, but this is my very first time actually playing the game from start to finish, and I want to become a Game Journalist or something like that one day, so what better way to practice than with my favorite Video game franchise of all time, Mega Man! Here's my history with the Blue Bomber:
One day, as a kid, I was scrolling through my Game Emulator looking for something to play. I saw Mega Man X6 and thought, "Hey, I've heard of Mega Man before! Let's try it out!" I clicked on the game, and I only remember getting through the intro level and Commander Yammark level, but I quite enjoyed myself! So I dug through the Mega Man rabbit hole and fell in love with X and Classic in particular, but I did play the games BN a bit, but didn't really get far in them, but I did enjoy them. Then, other interests kinda took over for a few years until I got back into X. Then, out of curiosity, I read the Mega Man NT Warrior manga and watched the anime, and really enjoyed them! So I decided to snag the Battle Network Legacy Collection for $19.78. (What a steal!) And now, I'm writing this, let's get into the actual game, shall we?
GRAPHICS AND ART STYLE: (100/100)
I find the art style of this game quite appealing. I'll be honest, I didn't really care about MegaMan.EXE's design, but now I love it, the colors, the hair poking out the back. It's a great modernization of the OG Mega Man design in my opinion. It changes enough to have its own identity, but you can still tell it's Mega Man. The other redesigns are good, too; some other highlights are: FireMan, BombMan, and GutsMan. They modernize the design while still respecting the OG. I also loved the environments and locale and how expressive and full of life the are. Overall, very beautiful graphics for a 2001 GBA Game.
(Side Note: The art style for the promo art in BN1 is quite different from the later games. Take a look:)
BN1:
BNNOSS:
GAMEPLAY: (78/100)
This'll be split into 3 sections: the Combat, the Exploration, and the Puzzles.
Combat: (11/10)
This combat system is genuinely such a smart breakdown of the OG Mega Man Gameplay. In the Mega Man platformers, the challenge lies in lining up your shots to hit the enemies. BN takes this concept and retools it into a grid based combat system. Fights take place on a 6x3, 18 square grid, MegaMan has 9 squares to himself, as do the enemies, MegaMan obviously has his trusty Mega Buster, but the ol' Lemon Shooter ain't so strong here, MegaMan's real arsenal is Lan's collection of "Battle Chips," a data storage device that an Lan can insert in the PET to transfer its data to MegaMan, giving him special abilites, like summoning a Cannon, a Sword or healing himself. Some chips even give MegaMan the ability to alter the grid. I found it really fun to buy chips, experiment with them, and see how I liked them. And the bosses are built to really maximize this combat system. Some standouts are FireMan, ElecMan, ProtoMan, and the LifeVirus. It was really fun changing the folder to prepare for the battle ahead. There are also elemental armors MegaMan can equip; there's Aqua, Heat, Wood, and Elec. Equipping these armors halves all damage MegaMan receives, but he gets double damage if he gets hit by the element the armor is weak to.
Here's the chart if you're curious:
They don't change MegaMan's appearance, which, I mean, would a color swap have been nice, but they do their job well. Overall, an amazing combat system
Exploration: (9/10)
I found exploring the Internet kinda fun, but sometimes it became really confusing on where to go and what to do to progress the story, so much so that I had to use a guide, also fuck DenTown, it's feels like a maze at times
Puzzles: (5/10)
These puzzles were genuinely so ass, the only fun one was the puzzles leading up to the ColorMan fight, and even that is bogged down by DenTown being a fucking maze. NumberMan is...how do you design a puzzle like this, you have to insert a random number and PRAY it's the right one. If you fail enough times, it FUCKING CHANGES. IceMan's was mediocre; you have to navigate around Ice to turn on the water, but it gives you NO hints on where to go. Still, the WORST puzzle in the ENTIRE game is ElecMan's puzzle, it's sooooooo ass, there are these dumbass invisible floors that I hate so much, it's SO confusing and irritating to navigate.
Overall, the gameplay gets a rough 70 because I still did really enjoy the combat system, and not ALL the puzzles are shit, but the ones that are shit are really SHIT
STORY: (80/100)
I wasn't expecting an amazing story out of this game, and as a MASSIVE Dragon Ball fan (Goku will always be the GOAT). I felt a lot of Shonen influence in the story. A cheerful but braindead MC (Lan) who is oblivious to the affections of his Love Interest (Mayl), a partner who acts as a straight man to the MC (MegaMan), and an edgy rival (Chaud and ProtoMan), etc. The NPCs were also really funny and full of life. I actually cared for them during the final boss. (One of the funniest is during the ElecMan chapter, where a scientist thinks Lan's mom is hot and Lan thinks she's his mom, and he just freezes lol) But the biggest twist is the reveal that MegaMan is Lan's twin brother. Which was just such a shocking and Tragic twist that was really well done. I don't really play games for their story, so that's all I had to say here, and is probably why I rated it so high
MUSIC: (110/100)
It's a Mega Man game, they always have fire OSTs and this one is no different, Highlights include the title screen theme because it's iconic, catchy and feels, well, techy, the boss theme is good too, it genuinely hypes me up when I hear it in the background, and the music that plays when Lan's dad reveals that MegaMan is Hub, Lan's twin fits the tragic moment beautifully
CONCLUSION
Overall, despite frustrating puzzles and poor navigation, Mega Man: Battle Network still remains a fun and solid start to one of the most popular Mega Man sub-series, with brilliant combat and fun characters. I'll be interested to see how the series builds from this impressive first impression (huehuehue)
FINAL SCORE: (798/1,000)
Onto Battle Network 2!
