"Yeah, there's no way to take that back.
So we'll just pretend I didn't blurt out a compliment about your ass."
That is definitely going in the books as an embarrassing moment to never ever speak of again, but it's nice to see that instead of ragging on her about it - it's actually gotten a smile from him. Even if it is just a small one, it's still a smile.
Part of her thinks about the old saying; 'Opposites attract.', and on a scientific front - they do. Very few substances repel each other. But there's nothing, in the knowledge bank that is her brain to tell her that there's anything here to imply that these two beings; as opposite as opposite can get - have any sort of attraction between them because she refuses to think about that. Refuses to jumble her mind with more things that she does not need to ponder for any reason.
There is a definite pull though, the thought of blowing off the rest of school and spending the day with the schools hottest bad boy; there was an appeal. And she could get out of trouble easily later, if she had the desire to. It paid to be a good student.
Her attention pulls back to him upon hearing the laugh, question following it as if he doesn't really believe she wants to spend the day with him; and that's when a smart remark builds up and settles itself on the tip of her tongue. Jaw clenching to hold it back, lips pursing before her shoulders lift in a half assed shrug, speaking only after he's already agreed.
"You're not completely horrible to be around.
But half your time is spent in that closet over there.
Doesn't leave much other time for the people who might
be interested in more than your dick.
And the people who see more than your looks.
If you don't mind me being completely honest."
That should have been at the beginning, but it's tacked on the end like an after thought. It's true, her interest in him doesn't stem from her libido or some desire to say 'oh, yeah. I slept with him.' because she's so far from that kind of girl that she's almost on another planet.
Smiling then, her gaze shifts to the door, nodding towards the exit. This time; she's the one to start towards freedom first, she's eager to get out of here. Guys like him, are never interested in friends or relationships and she knows that much, it's clear by the way they act towards people and stay by themselves.
Maybe it's worthless to try, but the biggest part of her drive to spend the day with him? Is so she can learn something, anything about him. Even if it's just the tiniest detail. She wants to have something that no one else does; it's not like she's planning to have him fall in love with her or anything like that. She just has a strange desire to be different, to know him on a different scale. Be the girl he hasn't slept with, but also the girl who knows him - even just a tiny, itty bitty, little bit.
She's not crazy about the thought of being alone with him, she's shy and everyone in school knows that, her stomach at the moment feels like she ate a flock of butterflies and they're trying to escape - heart nearly racing within her chest. She's happy though, because she's acquired something others haven't.
The rest of the day. With him. Alone.
Not just a little bit of time in a closet or something equally as demeaning in her eyes.
There's also the fact he doesn't seem put off by her weird and embarrassing quirks, like the rambling, blurting out her innermost thoughts, etc, etc. Speaking of thoughts, she's remembering vaguely the one she had this morning: 'another boring, normal day for me.' and a quirk of her lips as she concludes that: 'not boring now, that's for sure.' Because if nothing else, maybe she's gotten that sick little desire of hers, maybe - just maybe - she's piqued his interest in the shy chemistry nerd-girl who he'd normally look right past.
