POW! WOW! HAWAII! 2017 Update!

POW! WOW! HAWAII! is fully underway in Oahu, Hawaii for its 2017 festivities. The week long event, taking place between February 11th and the 18th, has artists and musicians gathering in the Kaka’ako neighborhood to create stunning new murals, installations and more.  

In the photographs above by Brand Shigeta you can see activity by artists Telmo Miel, Duncan Jago, The Draculas, SHOK-1, Gary Fisher, OG SLICK, Gavin Murai x Wooden Wave, Kevin Lyons, James Jean and PichiAvo.

The mural festival is fleshed out with a block party alongside the Honolulu Night Market, an exhibition curated by Thinkspace Gallery at the Honolulu Museum of Art, a print show with Detroit-based 1xRun, artist talks, the “Saving Banksy” documentary premiere, “Art to the Pitch” soccer tournaments, break dancing battles with UDEF, as well as a DIM MAK Anniversary Concert with Steve Aoki presented by Electric Palms and POW! WOW!

Sponsors of the festival are Hawaii Tourism Authority, Montana Cans, Hawaii Airlines, The Modern Honolulu, Monster Energy Drinks, Olukai, EPTM, ’47, 1xRun, Thinkspace Gallery, Our Kaka’ako and City Mill.
