UTV- DEVLOG #1
devlog 001 β the intro just changed. a lot.
okay so.the intro of Under The Veil has gone through some pretty major changes behind the scenes β and i mean major. not surface level stuff. the kind of changes that ripple through the rest of the story and affect how you understand everything that comes after it.
i'm genuinely excited about where it's going.the core linear storyline is mostly intact, same route, same destination β but the *way* you arrive there feels different now. more grounded. more deliberate.what i'm actively working on right now:
β interactive choices that actually carry weightβ some UI refinements (small things that were quietly annoying me)
β branching. which is. a lot of work. i won't lie to you.it's coming together but i need a little more time with it. i'd rather give you something that feels complete than rush it out and have it feel hollow. you deserve better than that and honestly so does Velmoor.so β sit tight. i promise i'm not disappearing. i'm just heads down.
βββββββββββββββββββ
i do have a question for you all though and i genuinely want to know what you think:
keeping in mind this is *chapter 1 only* βwould you rather have a longer story with a more linear experience, letting the atmosphere and narrative do the heavy lifting?or would you prefer a medium length chapter with deeper interactive choices and higher replayability ..more immersion,
more branching, more reason to go back through it?both have tradeoffs. more story = more of velmoor to sink into right now. more choices = chapter 1 becomes something you actually want to replay.there's no wrong answer, i'm genuinely asking. reblog, reply, drop it in my inbox β whatever. i'm reading everything.

Use of Imagery in Interactive Novels
Do the use of Images and Pngs, maybe for descriptions of places, and to feel the atmosphere help the players to immerse more?or does it feel out of the place and cheap? What do you guys think?
If you woke up as a vampire one day..What's the first thing you'd do?

π¦ Quick Dev Update: Things Are Getting Wild in Under The Veil π¦
Hey everyone! Stepping out of the coding trenches for a quick minute to give you a highly anticipated update on whatβs brewing behind the scenes for Under The Veil.
Iam currently deep in the trenches of writing and coding The Party Scene. I don't want to drop any major spoilers, but let's just say this isn't your average college mixer. Iam putting a massive amount of work into making this sequence feel as reactive, dangerous, and alive as possible.
Here is a quick taste of what to expect in the next update:
β’ Crowded Rooms: You'll be navigating a party featuring over 5 fully interactable NPCs, each with their own agendas, secrets, and branching dialogue trees.
β’ Actions Have Consequences: Who you talk to, what you ask, and who you accidentally offend will drastically alter how the night unfolds. There is no single "right" path, but there are definitely some wrong ones.
β’ Pure Chaos: I cannot stress this enough... the party is going to get absolutely wild. The tension is thick, the atmosphere is heavy, and depending on your choices, things might just completely pop off.
Building a web of choices this complex takes a lot of time (and coffee), but seeing the different outcomes weave together is incredibly exciting. I promise the payoff is going to be worth the wait.
Keep your eyes peeled...
And if you haven't played the demo yet...What are you even doing?? Check it out here ππ»

I was shocked when Lila said she had a boyfriend lol, I really thought she would be a romance option π
LOOOOL ,Just wait for the new update I promise there's a looot to wait forr βοΈ
hello! Your IF concept seems very interesting! I was wondering who are the romance options?
Hii!! thanks for showing your interest!! Well Currently you can only see Ethan In the RO list, but soon a huge update is coming,And possibly a Lot more Romance options are gonna be added, though it'll be story heavy but yeah many characters will hopefully be introduced so stay tuned for that,(and I wanna keep the characters a secret so stay tuned ;b )
hi! i'm very interested in your if, but could you possibly explain this part a little bit:
gender-based romance β your romance options shift depending on the gender you choose. who finds you interesting changes. who you find interesting changes.
mostly i'm wondering if this mean romances will be hetlocked? π
hello! Iam so glad you found this interesting and yes as of now the potential romances are hetlocked as I'd like to focus in the story more,I think the building the lore of under the veil will be very awesome and I'm so excited for this! I hope you enjoy future updates thank you again for even bothering to message!
β¦ UNDER THE VEIL β¦
The city lets you in. It doesn't always let you go.
a gothic interactive fiction game set in Velmoor β a fog-drenched coastal city where something is very, very wrong.you're a university student. new in town. your roommate is charming. the city is beautiful in that old, crumbling way. everything seems fine.it isn't.
βββββββββββββββββββ
β½ second person narrative β YOU are the protagonist
β½ full name & gender customisation
β½ gender-based romance β your romance options shift depending on the gender you choose. who finds you interesting changes. who you find interesting changes.
β½ choices that actually matter β characters notice. the city notices.
β½ time-of-day system that changes the world around you
β½ slow burn dark romance
β½ gothic horror that doesn't announce itself β it just settles in, quietly, like fog under a door
β½ prose-heavy, reads like a novel
βββββββββββββββββββ
if you've ever wanted to walk through a city that feels like it's been holding its breath for centuriesif you like your romance drenched in tension and bad decisionsif you want a story that trusts you to read between the linesthis is for you.
