Garden: Lost or Broken by Camille Chrisman
I donât need to have things break on meÂ
I already have too many things break on meÂ
No, I donât need any broken things, Iâve already had too many things break on me. Iâm in the backyard, Time is passing as I pass and walk and bye
 Dead leaves, bent back branches.Â
These seem to be doing so much better than I. All that seems to be growing in my garden are weeds. Tearing down possibilities from anything. Itâs all suffocating me.Â
No, I donât need broken things, and I already had too much things break on meÂ
Broken chains, broken links, broken families.
You are the link to me, to us, our familyÂ
Can I repair what is gone but not lost?Â
There was only one spot you could fill, there was one spot and we will try to move on, but we wonât forget, because forgetting is wrong, because the absence of you fills our empty hearts that were dumped out at the news.Â
I donât need broken things and I already had too many broken things and you
liked to repair and renew
and restore what is yours,Â
but now, the main part is youâre gone youâre here but you canât finish this song, because youâre not here but youâre here
I miss you mom and I wish that it werenât
I donât need Iâm broken pieces, I already have too many and IÂ
And Iâm lost because Iâve lost mine
âMy mom was killed by a motorist April 9th, 2020. She was on her way to pick me up from college when a 87 year old woman driving on the wrong side of the free way killed my mom. She died too. We are all accountable for our agency. That old lady shouldnât have been driving, but she chose to, and there are those who are victims to circumstances and consequences. I miss her so much. There is no, âThatâs part of Godâs plan for her to be killed,â Godâs plan is there so we are able to overcome mortality and be saved. That we may come home again and rest in our Heavenly Fathers Peace. Â He gave us accountability, a gift we chose and excepted. And he will hold us accountable to that.
