Any gender-neutral versions of "fiancé(e)" that you know of, other than "betrothed"? I quite like "fianx", but I don't know how standard that is.

big fan of embracing archaic poeticisms like "betrothed" and "intended". "future spouse." "spouse-to-be." idk i was still a gender when i was engaged so i didn't get to confuse people with it :(

#I think she just calls me her partner now BUT#when me and my gf first got together I had also just come out as nonbinary#and we agreed 'partner' felt too serious for where we were in our relationship#so I asked her to call me her entanglement companion#because I wanted a relationship title that sounded like something a Jane Austen character would call their disgraced distant cousin's lover#she mostly shortened it to just “companion” because people gave her weird looks and I didn't really mind because I liked that too#I would rather be called a companion than a significant other#companion is cozier#significant other is so... austere#it's like the white on white minimalist vibe of relationship titles
