when learning programming (other subjects too, presumably) it's very common to find yourself facing what is called the XY problem:

How do I do X?

You fool! You don't just "do X". What you do instead is rethink your entire application from the ground up so that you wouldn't need to do X in the first place! (Oh and here's how you do do X by the way, in case you really, really, really need it)

over time you start to get a sense of the basic building blocks and approaches such that this happens less and less. maybe you even become the one responding.
