No.Â
[chin hands] as your son's new boyfriend what am i allowed and what am i not allowed
[frowns, crossing his arms over his chest] That ain't anything to do with me. You and Chuck are old enough for me to have a say in that sort of crap.
TMI Tuesday
this is Hercules Hansen, an old friend from the Mark I glory days
Try not to dwell on it, yeah? At least for the night, it ainât gonnaâ help anything. [Herc sighed, clapping him on the shoulder and giving it a light shake] Next drinkâs on me, yeah?
"Itâs really hard not to, Herc..I mean, weâve grown up in one anotherâs heads, it was always him and me. And nowâŠI feel like I donât even know him. I feel like Iâm losing whatâs left of my family." Another sigh left him, and he put his hand to his face, shaking his head. "I donât know what to do anymore. It was so much easier when he was younger, more impressionable."
[Frowns, sympathetic to Yancy's plight.] That's the problem with kids, they all grow up eventually. This has all happened pretty damn quickly though. Dealing with personal shit on top of everything else can't be healthy.
[Barks out a laugh, surprising Max a bit with the sudden gruff sound] Alright, thatâs as many Hercules references as I think I can stand.
[laughs along with him and is about to say that there never could be enough when he notices that Herc is down there, and heâs on a balcony]
[it takse him a moment to say something, trying to remember something] How camest thou hither, tell me, and wherefore? [claps quietly for himself, yeah, good on you raleigh]
[blinks, confusion on his face before realization dawns and his expression turns flat] My Shakespeare is rusty, sorry. I don't think Juliet was as hairy as you, anyway.Â
[rolls his eyes] I doubt he did somehow. Yânever know that. Besides, I wasnât always a hero. Had to start at zero, you know. [smirks, looking quietly smug with his reference]Â
[giddy, jumps a few times after realizing Herc had made another reference] Everyone starts at the bottom, but now youâre real big! When you smile, the girls go wild with oohs and aahs, yeah?
[Barks out a laugh, surprising Max a bit with the sudden gruff sound] Alright, that's as many Hercules references as I think I can stand.
[he gave him an unimpressed sort of look, leaning against the wall as he gazed up, shrugging a little] Thatâs the gospel truth, I suppose.
[barked laughter] Alrightâ I guess you get that a lot, then?
Sure do. Yânot the first and you wonât be the last. [grins despite himself, amused by Raleigh]Â
[shrugs] At least itâs an admirable name and character. Itâs a strong name, and hey, itâs like youâve always been a hero. [grins] Chuck ever gloat about his dad being strong when he was younger? Like, âhey, your dad may be a cool crocodile hunter, but my dad can lift a car and his dad throws lightningâ, kind of thing.
I know I would.
[rolls his eyes] I doubt he did somehow. Y'never know that. Besides, I wasn't always a hero. Had to start at zero, you know. [smirks, looking quietly smug with his reference]Â
[he gave him an unimpressed sort of look, leaning against the wall as he gazed up, shrugging a little] Thatâs the gospel truth, I suppose.
[barked laughter] Alrightâ I guess you get that a lot, then?
Sure do. Y'not the first and you won't be the last. [grins despite himself, amused by Raleigh]Â
Bloody fascinating. [murmurs before he glanced back up, albeit sharply and narrowed his eyes slightly] âCourse. Every mile is with my while, and all that.
[grinning childishly at him, eyes crinkling] Bless my soul, youâre on a roll. I bet you could stop a show, Herc.
[he gave him an unimpressed sort of look, leaning against the wall as he gazed up, shrugging a little] That's the gospel truth, I suppose.
[shakes Maxâs leash lightly to try and coax the dog into speeding up his rather leisurely pace now that they were almost back to Chuckâs apartment. When he paused to unlock the outside door, he finally noticed Raleigh on the balcony and raised a brow] Thatâs not exactly the scariest Halloween costume Iâve seen around.
[wipes his mouth quickly and stands up, leaning over the railing to look at Herc with a grin]
Iâm not in costume! Just people watching. [sips his hot cocoa] Anyway, whatâs up? Going the distance? [hides his stupid smile behind his mug]
Bloody fascinating. [murmurs before he glanced back up, albeit sharply and narrowed his eyes slightly] 'Course. Every mile is with my while, and all that.
[goes out into his balcony with a blanket and a mug of hot cocoa, planning to do some peaceful people watching; closes the glass door with his elbow and sits down on the chair they keep on the balcony with a little sigh]
[wraps the blanket around himself and sips at his hot cocoa, laughing a little at himself when some of it gets stuck in his mustache, god he couldnât wait to shave his beard off and cut his hair]
[shakes Max's leash lightly to try and coax the dog into speeding up his rather leisurely pace now that they were almost back to Chuck's apartment. When he paused to unlock the outside door, he finally noticed Raleigh on the balcony and raised a brow] That's not exactly the scariest Halloween costume I've seen around.
[Nods, taking a swig of his beer and straightening up] Looks good, though. Â [He gives a vague shrug] Alright, canât complain. Same as always. How about you?
"Things are still a littleâŠtense, between me and Raleigh. But..shit, Iâm not going to lie to you. I donât know what I can do anymore. We argued for the first time in years, and I feel like heâs becoming more and more of a stranger to me." He sighed, taking a long drink from his own beer.
Try not to dwell on it, yeah? At least for the night, it ain't gonna' help anything. [Herc sighed, clapping him on the shoulder and giving it a light shake] Next drink's on me, yeah?
[Herc blinked and glanced over to him, belatedly.] Ah, Yancy. Nice tâsee you. [quips, gesturing to him lazily in greeting] Looking very⊠[pauses, searching for the right word] Official. Howâs it goinâ?
Gives a laugh, ordering a beer and looking down at himself. âYeaah, Rals wanted me to dress up this year, so..I dug my old uniform out of the closet. I was amazed heâd even packed it, guess he forgot it was still there. So howâve things been with you?â
[Nods, taking a swig of his beer and straightening up] Looks good, though. Â [He gives a vague shrug] Alright, can't complain. Same as always. How about you?
[Sighs, resting back against the bar counter on his elbow, a beer hanging loosely by itâs neck from his hand. It was hard to avoid getting caught up in the spirit of things, but he was giving it a solid effort. He hadnât even put thought into a costume, simply wearing his normal civilian clothing.] At least, the beer is goodâŠ
Spotting Herc wasnât too hard, especially in a moderately crowded bar with people surrounding the pool tables instead of the counter. So, the older Becket made his way over, having been too lazy to change out of his costume after Raleigh had ditched and gone to hang out with Chuck. âYou look like you need company.â
[Herc blinked and glanced over to him, belatedly.] Ah, Yancy. Nice t'see you. [quips, gesturing to him lazily in greeting] Looking very... [pauses, searching for the right word] Official. How's it goin'?
