okay. just a full on disclaimer: i’m not posting this for anyone’s pity and i also don’t care about what your stance on the matter is. it may have been something you personally would brush off but i am not one to keep quiet on something like this.
i was sexually assaulted in osaka by the owner of a very popular gay bar. the term “sexually assaulted” almost implies rape, and it partially was because it was a non-consensual sexual act, but it wasn’t as severe; i’m not emotionally traumatized nor did he explicitly put his dick in me.
my friend and i went to this gay bar on friday and had a few drinks. it was our second time there that week and we had already made small talk with the owner and established he seemed like a nice person. we hung around the entire night and at one point started talking to the owner. he mentioned he sold andrew christian underwear in a shop upstairs and we said we would’ve loved to check it out but the shop was closed. he invited both of us upstairs to take a look because there was someone else looking after the bar.
we went upstairs, tried on some things that he recommended and there was already a little bit of touching. he moved my dick around through the underwear to reposition it, which i thought was a little too much but i let it slide. my friend then tried on something he recommended and we were both in the change room together. he came in, took my friend’s dick out of the underwear, and told me to go suck it.

the owner then stood beside us in the changeroom and asked us if we minded him jacking off. neither of us said anything and he proceeded to take out his dick and start touching both of us. at one point, he tried to tell me to suck his dick too but i refused. he kept pushing it further, trying to get me and my friend to have sex in front of him while we were both clearly uncomfortable doing so. he then reached over to the sink and showed us that he had some really good lube, put some on his fingers, and then reached around me and started fingering me. then he did the same to my friend. we were both at this point unsure what to do because yes, there were two of us but we were never consenting to any of what he was doing and we both felt like we were in a very vulnerable position. the guy took his fingers out of me and told me to jack him off because he wants to cum. i– never thinking that i actually would’ve in any hypothetical situation– did it because i wanted the experience to be over and done with. he touched me and licked my nipples while i touched him because i didn’t want my friend to have to do anything with him.
he eventually came in his sink and then got us to buy the underwear that we were wearing.
it was a horrible situation and i have always thought that i would be more adamantly against it from the beginning but when it actually happens, it’s so hard to just say no. you feel so vulnerable and like nothing you do can stop it from happening, so you let it happen and hope to walk away with the least amount of problems. i didn’t know what to do the moment we left because this was never anything i expected to happen. my friends told me to call the police or the canadian embassy. someone told me to sue the guy. i would’ve loved to have him reprimanded for his actions but also, it feels like the system would work against me and there would be no actual positive end to this.
what’s worse is that while my friend and i might have walked away and was able to wake up the next day and try to move on, i was almost absolutely certain this was not the first time he’s done this to someone else and i haven’t seen anything negative written about the bar. what’s scarier is that someone else who isn’t as lucky as we were might have been actually raped and never said anything. someone could be in there right now and the same thing could be happening to them as you read this, and no one will really know. it’s not like i have the ability on my own to shut down his bar, nor his underwear shop– the “biggest retailer for andrew christian in asia– he claims, but i want this to be a precautionary tale for anyone who’s travelling to osaka and wanting to go to his place of business because i don’t want anything to happen to you and i hope that you will take your business elsewhere.
and i don’t have any physical proof of what happened other than the memories of what transpired, the shared experience with my friend, and the underwear we walked out with. i’m worried that he might have had cameras in the store. i’m worried that everything was recorded on tape and he has that over us. i’m worried for anyone else who wants to visit him and anyone who might also be put in a compromising situation. i’m certainly worried for anyone who has had to go through the same thing we did, whether to the same degree of severity or not.
