lets play a game of spot the antagonist
Reasons I love the Scarlet Pimpernel
Sir Percy was hardcore:
He practically raised himself after his mother got dementia and his father took them away to Europe to look after her privately. Also, his father loved his mother more than Percy loves Marguerite. That’s saying something.
He ran around Europe and learned ALL THE THINGS to the extent that he can pass himself off as French so convincingly that he fools even his own men.
He will NOT leave anyone behind even to save his own skin.
He saw his wife briefly when he was in Paris. two years later, he came back, still in love with her, wooed her, married her, and is so passionately in love with her that he would bend over backwards, sideways and every other way to make her happy.
He will fight for freedom and justice and liberty and equality in ways the Revolution failed to do.
He is the Fashion Icon for all of London.
He lets himself be beaten senseless - while in disguise - just so he can make sure his wife is not harmed, and when they are freed, he carries her for miles, despite barely being able to walk himself.
He will sass his jailers, especially M'sieur Chaumbertin.
He is also the richest man in London and best friend of the future King.
He will get arrested and plan a cunning escape which involves the spies and emissaries of 3 countries being played against one another with no idea they’re being played, because even his men don’t know the spies are being played until Percy strolls into their safehouse and goes “whatup dudes?”
He is a master swordsman
He speaks several languages fluently
He is described as tall, blond, handsome and dashing.
He is seen as the King of all the Fops, and worse because he knows people see his mentally-ill mother, and his soft father in him and don’t look beyond it.
He was the prototype for Bond and Batman.
He can tie a perfect cravat.
HE. IS. AWESOME.
Percy: Punch me in the face.
Chauvelin: What?
Percy: Yes, punch me in the face! Didn't you hear me?
Chauvelin: I always hear "punch me in the face" when you're speaking but it's usually subtext.
“The Scarlet Pimpernel?” said Suzanne, with a merry laugh. “Why! what a droll name! What is the Scarlet Pimpernel, Monsieur?” She looked at Sir Andrew with eager curiosity. The young man’s face had become almost transfigured. His eyes shone with enthusiasm; hero-worship, love, admiration for his leader seemed literally to glow upon his face. “The Scarlet Pimpernel, Mademoiselle,” he said at last “is the name of a humble English wayside flower; but it is also the name chosen to hide the identity of the best and bravest man in all the world, so that he may better succeed in accomplishing the noble task he has set himself to do.”

How Reading the Scarlet Pimpernel Got Me Into Superheroes
Everybody remembers that first superhero who started them down the road of admiring vigilantes, masked superheroes, those doers of justice. For most people, their “gateway crusader” usually comes in the form of Batman or Superman. For me, I fell in love with the superhero concept th…
*happy sigh*
I find it so ironic that Percy is perceived as a mindless goofball and yet pretty much every fight he has won was because he outsmarted his opponent
The best part of this post is that it works for all the Percys of the world.
Percy Weasley survived the books, I’d call that a win.
Percy Blakeney survived the French revolution… win
Percy Jackson
Sir Percival
Even Percy the dog from Pocahontas didn’t fair too bad in the end!
Next time someone tries to claim that superheroes are for boys...
Friendly reminder that superheroes/supervillains were invented by a woman.
Back in 1905, in fact. Including the trope of “foppish playboy” by day, and mysterious masked figure by night, which was later used for Zorro, Batman, and innumerable other costumed heroes and villains since.
(Whether the Scarlet Pimpernel is a superhero or supervillain depends on which side of the French Revolution you sympathize with, but Emma Orczy clearly intended him to be read as a heroic figure.)

Hello, lovely followers! Here is a gift for you.
(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5IidzZ6r3cc)
Hello, lovely followers.
If you think that calling you lovely was trying to butter you up before we give you some disappointing news, well, you were right. BUT it’s not too bad. There are just some points we need to clear up.
Firstly, the show will not be airing on August 10th after all. Because of some technical roadblocks it just wasn’t possible. We do hope to have something special for you to see on that day, but it won’t be the pilot.
The air date is yet to be determined, as we don’t want to go broadcasting it until we are sure this time. ;) But we anticipate it being towards the end of August and will update you as soon as we can!
The second thing we want to run by you is our plans for proceeding. Right now we have ten episodes to air. But after that we’re not sure how it’s going to continue. There will most definitely be a break after the first run, and a continuation depends largely upon funding and of course the availability of other actors and crew. If we get enough support, though, we will do our absolute best to finish up the story. We have some really exciting plans that we would love to see come to fruition, but we want to be realistic and balance this show among our other jobs, obligations, commitments, lives, etc. We know you’ll understand.
Thank you all for your patience. The footage thus far is looking great and we think it will definitely be worth the wait!
The Masked team is very excited to finally announce the air date for our pilot! *sits back and lets you wait in suspense for a moment*
Please mark your calendars (and bookmark our channelhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqfBpLlPQt4u9BRD4lHT10Q) for August 10th! An exact time will be announced soon.

Attention Leaguettes!
The creators of Masked are currently looking for some inspiration. Never mind for what. Good things come to those who wait. ;)
But we have a question for you: what is/are your favorite Percy Rescue Scene(s) from the Scarlet Pimpernel books? In which books can we find them?
Reblog this and add your answer, or email us at maskedwebseries (at) gmail . com!
