I'm only saying this for your sake, but objectively, it's not a smart idea to bring politics into normal hobbies. You might lose supporters of your blog just because of your political stance, and that would be terrible since you're so amazing!! It's only a suggestion, but I really reccomend not bringing politics into anything.
Life is political, if you are paying any attention whatsoever.
The idea that you can “not bring politics” into something is in and of itself a privileged position. Being able to go about your daily life “and not get political” means you can go through your day and not have to worry about the ways that structures of oppression shape every decision that you make throughout the day, and that you dont have to worry that any moment your behavior might be analyzed by another then pathologized and criminalized against you. The people who dont want to speak out about politics usually are those who the status quo favors and don’t want that system to be disrupted.
HUNTERS — At Night, All Birds Are Black (S01E05)
[Some Nazi Bitch]: Is it fair your wages pay for someone’s chicken wings? Someone who’s watching The Jeffersons instead of working? Of course not. Sympathy leads to handouts, and capable people become fleas on society’s back, and whom does that help?

The urban legend is “if you say his name five times while looking in the mirror, he appears in the reflection and it kills you”.

Atomic Bomb Survivor: Sumitery Taniguchi
The frail 86-year-old body of Sumitery Taniguchi is a web of scars, that have criss-crossed his skin for 70 years. The elderly man was one of the many tens of thousands of victims of the atomic blast that destroyed the Japanese port city of Nagasaki, on August 9 1945.
He is still unable to fully straighten his left arm, while his wife rubs moisturizing cream onto his scars every morning to reduce the irritation. Three of his ribs half rotted away following the attack and still press against his lungs, leaving unnatural dents and swellings in his chest.
He has revealed his scars as part of his work with the Nagasaki survivors’ group that he leads, in the struggle against nuclear proliferation. He and his group hope that no one will ever again suffer the pain of a nuclear blast. (Source)

I know you can’t see my crown but it says “Sex God” Mother Nature crowned me the Sex God on my birthday how much more fitting is that?
This time next year my book will be out and my first essay will be published 🥰
if it's not to nosy of me, what're they about?
Non-fiction! The book (geared toward children but readable by everyone) is a collaborative effort with two other women outlining different women throughout ancient, contemporary, and modern history who defied gender expectations in spaces like sports, science, the arts, etc and the essay is about my body journey~
I remember this time last year, I was beginning to work on them and absolutely terrified but now the final touches are being put on them by creative teams. It’s pretty exciting 🧿
that sounds rly cool. do y'all have an illustrator on the team or is that one of the final touches you still need to make? how'd you come to be working on this project in particular?
I wrote it through NatGeo (which is now a part of Disney 🥴) so they took care of all the creative, including hiring graphic designers/illustrators. It was nepotism, to be frank. I fell into the project completely on the recommendation of someone who had already published her first book and thought I’d be a good fit to help produce a work like this.
It’s why I’m very determined to start from scratch with my next work and really get back to what I’m most passionate about — poetry.
hey nepotism can be a valid form of networking! especially when you're at a systematic disadvantage. you gotta level out the playing field wherever you can. I hope all goes smoothly tho, and that you get a nice payout for your effort. or at the very least, that it opens more doorways for you <3
I’m so grateful to you, truly. Thank you ❤️💖
