sorry if this is a bother but do you have any suggestions/advice on how one can start to learn and practice drawing facial and body hair? i absolutely love the way you draw it, its incredible

Of course, always happy to share any tips and tricks I have up my sleeve! As ever, looking at pictures, refs, and better yet if you have a person in your life with facial/body hair will help you a long way - but I'm here to simplify my methods on both as drawing hair may feel overwhelming at first. In reality it's rather simple! facial hair:

-don't just add hair

-less in more (light, texture, and points of interest will do legwork with facial hair)

-idk why, but this droplet-like stroke works especially well at hair ends (and for outlining)

1. add hair as if mouth/ in place of mouth. This helps to combine face and beard, rather than keep them as separate and complicating the process. Just mind where the lower lip will sit.

2. base color. This of overall shape of the facial hair added, or think of them as planes. Main point is that you don't get stuck on individual hairs ever at early stages

3. add light + shadow colors (I usually use at least 3 colors for hair). Add detail/high texture to either darkest or lightest area (usually lightest but depends on the hair color, mood and ambient colors).

body hair:

(this is an old tuto, but it still rings true!)

now, just giving a little addition here to make note of: 1. you can add as many layers to make the hair bushier/thicker. In this tuto I did 2, but nowadays I usually do 4-5. Here's an example of extremely fluffy bodyhair I did. 2. thick bodyhair will dull down/drown colors and detail of body and skin under it. You'll get as eye to this, but you'll probably need to adjust the overall colors under hair when you add it. So - thick hair needs higher contrast under it if any details wanna peek out!
