“Oooh! A Wonderbolt! Hi Mr. Soarin!” Pinkie Pie called.

Everypony stopped talking and turned their heads. Pasting on a smile and some fake confidence, Soarin waved. “Hey.”

“Why if it isn’t mah best customer from the gala!” Applejack exclaimed. “How’re you doin’, sir?”

Soarin smiled and waved a hoof. “You don’t have to call me that.”

Fluttershy gave him a small smile and waved, while Rarity’s eyes flitted between him and Dash.

Rainbow smiled, albeit a bit nervously. “Hey, Soarin. What’s up?”

Soarin gave a fake cough. “Not much. Figured I better be a good Wonderbolt and say hello to one of our trainees,” he said with a small grin.

“You mean the best one?” she asked, puffing out her chest.

He chuckled. “Oh, yeah. Of course.”

The mare in question’s eyes widened, clearly not expecting them. She had just come out of the building, probably having just used the washroom. Her relaxed posture straightened up. “Hey, Spitfire!”

Wave Chill raised a hoof and offered a friendly smile. “Nice to see you again, Rainbow Dash.”

Rainbow nodded eagerly. “Heh, yeah. You too.” Her eyes shifted to Soarin and he swore her smile grew. “Hey, Soarin.”
