Here's a short mizuena fic I wrote while waiting for my food at a restaurant. Might post it on ao3 later idk tho
Ena sat on the couch, a sketchbook splayed across her lap and a pencil in her hand. She'd been working on this specific piece for over two hours, but the more she looked at it, the more mistakes she found. The tree branches needed more rendering, the color of the flowers was too warm, and the clouds looked weird.
She set the sketchbook aside with a frustrated groan. She needed a break, otherwise she might just rip the drawing in half.
She leaned back, closing her eyes and trying to calm down. Her hand mindlessly drifted towards the sleeping girl on her left, and she gently ran her fingers through soft pink hair.
A few months ago, Mizuki had started joining Ena on the couch for her daily drawing sessions. The first time it happened, Ena assumed that her girlfriend only wanted to bother her and distract her from getting any work done, but Mizuki was surprisingly well-behaved. She'd just lie there and sleep next to Ena, until the artist got her work done.
"Ena?" Mizuki mumbled. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine. Sorry for waking you." She said, moving her hand away from Mizuki's hair, only for the half-asleep girl to grab it and place it right back.
"I like it when you play with my hair."
"Is that so?" Ena chuckled, brushing a few strands out of Mizuki's face and started running her fingers through her girlfriend's soft hair once again. The taller girl didn't answer and only scooted closer.
"Mizuki?" Ena whispered after a few moments, receiving a curious hum. "Why do you always sleep here while I draw?"
Ena furrowed her brows at the response. How would sleeping on a hard couch be better than a cozy bed?
"And you think being here makes you sleep better?" She asked skeptically.
"I heard somewhere that sleeping next to someone you love improves your sleep quality." Mizuki said, nuzzling into Ena's hand. "So here I am."
