Before you sodomize and water torture me i need to make it clear that this isn't me saying relying on what's essentially just predictive text is a good thing, that scraping data from the whole internet to train ai is okay, that we should all stop thinking or putting any effort into research, etc etc I fucking hate the push of generative ai it's patronizing and particularly sinister in our current political climate. But Like. You realize you're just punching down, right? "LMAOOOO are you totally braindead or what? You can't even decide what to have for dinner? You can't write an essay? You can't read a long article? Fucking buck up and put the effort in its not hard. Is your brain just mush or what omfg you people can't do ANYTHING" Can you step back and look at yourself for a moment. There are so many things we can talk about irt genAI being a net bad. The sheer amount of computing power and thereby resources it takes, the massive jump in emissions from tech giants that it's responsible for, the fact that it doesn't actually know anything and confidently regurgitates dangerously false information, the fact that it nonconsensually scrapes public works to train itself, I could go on for multiple paragraphs. But the thing you're choosing to moralize the hardest about is the fact that STUPID LAZY PANSY SNOWFLAKES can't even MAKE A GOOGLE SEARCH NO MORE and need everything DUMBED DOWN AND WRITTEN IN CRAYON for them.
