As many of you know, today is Trans Day of Remembrance.
There are no words to express the utter loss our community has suffered this past year. Thirty nine of our siblings in struggle, many of whom were people of color, were killed in the U.S. since January 1 of this year. There may be others whose names we do not yet know. This is a time of mourning for the entire community, and we must hold each other close as we close out the year next month.
Take care of ourself today, and every day after this. Give yourself the time to feel, to experience, to love, to embrace as we remember these thirty nine names, faces, lives, people, and the ones who came before us.
We say their names - and remember their stories

I drew lots of Yugi comforting Kaiba and I wanted it the other way around for once, but I can’t really think of a good “comforting” method Kaiba would do.
So, maybe whenever Yugi’s having a day, Kaiba would put Yugi’s head against his chest, and just let him hear his heartbeat, somehow… Reminding him that he’s there… for him… HEH RIVALSHIPPING SOFT RIVALSHIPPING SWEET I like-

Feel free to add yours if you want too, but you don't have too✨
Anyway that’s why you wear wool and a life jacket babeeeyyyy
The important thing about wool is that it continues to keep you warm even when it’s soaking wet.
Other natural fibers don’t do this. In fact, quite the opposite. Campers and boaters are usually familiar with the phrase, “cotton kills.” If you’re wet in cotton or linen, your clothes actually sap heat from your body.
If you sink in a lake in late October like I did today, staying warm is important. I was rescued long before I would’ve actually died, but cold makes your muscles seize up, which isn’t good if you have to swim to land.
Which brings me around to life jackets. If the water’s cold enough, you may only have five-ten minutes until your muscles seize (today I probably had 40-60, more than enough time to get to land if I hadn’t been picked up), and you’ll drown.
In a life jacket, even in extremely cold water, you can float semi-conscious for perhaps another 30 minutes or so before you actually freeze to death, which is usually when someone rescues you.
What’s more, you probably know that moving around on land warms you up. Jumping jacks, jogging in place, etc.
In water, moving actually makes you colder. You need to stay still curled up in a ball, which you can only do in a life jacket.
In wool AND life jacket, you’re warm, and your head’s above water, which is pretty much your only and entire goal.
If you’re allergic to wool, synthetics are available specifically for this purpose. I know I always say natural fibers are the way to go, but when it comes to safety, wear what protects you!
Yep! A really simple “experiment” I learned as a kid and now use in my own courses is sticking your hand in ice water. Compare moving it around in the water to curling it up in a fist. The contrast is stark!
To increase your survival time in on cold water, you want to curl up! If you’re with others, you want to huddle!
Again, both are only possible when wearing a life jacket!
I know a lot of people are reblogging this for writing reference, but I like to believe that 7,000 people on this site were actually continually living in fear about this specific situation and that when the time comes, I’ve prepared them with what they need to know to survive.
However isn’t wool really absorbent. Aka it’ll absorb like twice it’s weight in water and you’ll be weighed down/ have a hard time swimming?
https://youtu.be/F6Y22rIyLrQ
The point here is that if you’re on cold water, you should be in a life jacket. It doesn’t matter if your clothes are heavy if you’re in a properly fitted life jacket. The pfd (personal flotation device)/life jacket will hold your head out of the water regardless.
However, if you go down in cold water without a life jacket, and light clothes that don’t weigh you down, the major danger is still drowning.
Cold water stops your ability to swim more than a short distance once your muscles seize up. Many people have died in cold due to cramps when they would have had perhaps hours more before they actually froze to death.
In water at certain temperatures, you will eventually cramp up, become unconscious, etc. in a pfd, you’ll still be alive after this happens for rescuers to recover. Without one, you just drown.
If you’re too far from shore and need to await rescue, you need to conserve body heat. Swimming does the opposite of that, so you shouldn’t be swimming anyway. You can only curl up into the HELP position in a pfd.
Also keep in mind that if help isn’t available immediately once you get to shore, you need to stay warm once you’re out of the water. Even if you make it to shore in a fiber like cotton, if help isn’t around, you may still freeze. Wool and certain synthetics we have now keep you warm while wet. We also have lighter weight wool knits now that take on less moisture.
Wool is important, but the overall point of this post (which I made because my boat sank a few days ago on a cold lake hahaha) is to always always always wear a properly fitted life jacket.
Editing? Oh you mean fic patching.
Protagonist now has more complex motivations.
Protagonist now remembers key facts about important people. He no longer develops convenient amnesia between cutscenes.
Protagonist now has a cooldown on certain adverbs. Adverbs have been buffed by 30% to compensate.
Developer note: Adverbs are important to writing but they are sometimes overused. This change keeps adverbs relevant while encouraging the use of adjectives and verbs.
The horse now has a name.
Deuteragonist snark power has been increased to 150, up from 75.
Characters now no longer reference the previous version’s climate and have been updated to react appropriately to the currently set season.
Solved a glitch where supernumerary limbs would sometimes emerge during complex physical interactions.
Should no longer display “[insertnamehere]” during conversations and narration. All of such occurrances have been replaced with the appropriate tags.
Conversation continuity has been improved. Characters will no longer inappropriately respond with lines from previous iterations of the narrative.
All references to “Event A” have been purged to reflect changes in narrative structure.
Now with more thematically-consistent swearing.
Back-to-back repeated words that resulted from sentence rearranging or start/stop editing have been cleared.
Paragraphs which contained two or more instances of the same adjective have had their adjectives updated to accurately reflect a player’s vocabulary inventory.
Minor time traveling issues have been resolved, all characters should now exist in the same tense.
Punctuation has been improved. Commas have been reduced by half.
Characters sighing has been reduced by 30%.
Characters looking at things or people during conversations has been reduced by 40%. To make up for this, characters thinking about the conversation has been boosted and descriptive narrative has been added.
Title has been applied.
