Ik the hype for Animaniacs has died down since like January but am I the only one who got kinda sad about Yakko? Like the fandom was going bananas about calling him Wakko and Dot's father which is just kinda sad to me. Like, the poor guy is only 14. He shouldn't have to be a whole father for his younger siblings, he's also a kid, and he needs a dad too. And that bit in the Halloween episode where he was freaking out was actually kinda real. When you're a teenager expected to do most of the work to take care of your younger siblings, even with your parents present, it really breaks ya. I can tell you that having that kind of responsibility makes you seek approval and support from every adult and family figure in your life; and as a toon, Yakko seeks it the only way he knows how, with humor.

So anyway. Scratchansniff oughta be their dad, but it is still Yakko appreciation hours. And while we're at it, oof, look at the time, it's time for me to stop taking cartoons so seriously. Anyway.

the looney tunes mascot from 1933-1935, abysmally boring and dull. to put it in perspective, the director who directed buddy’s debut cartoon (which is infamously terrible) was fired only after directing 2 shorts, and a whole cast of characters (one of which included a certain pig with a speech impediment) had to be created in order to introduce some fresh blood to the mix.

he’s had at least 4 different redesigns, the first one only lasted one cartoon.

honestly he’s not THAT bad, but watching all of his cartoons in a very short time really turns you off to him. he’s just obnoxious and his cartoons are terminally mind numbing—once in a blue moon there’s something entertaining but usually you get stuff like this and it’s just like. oh god please end this.

most people know him because animaniacs parodied him one time, but he was indeed a real part of looney tunes history, for better or worse.
