IndieXchange Game Tasting
We had the pleasure of showing SPECTRUM publicly for the first time at the Indiecade sponsored Game Tasting event in Culver City CA. The event was part of the dev only IndieXchange event the day before the festival started. We brought a 12 level demo to show other devs and indiecade organizers. Being the first time we ever brought the game in front of a real life crowd we honestly had no idea what to expect and set our expectations incredibly low.
The event went off better than we could have possibly imagined!!! People seemed to genuinely like the game. People were drawn in by the art but miraculously stuck around to play through the entirety of our 20 some minute demo.
We really appreciate everyone who took the time to play the game and give us some feedback. We are now actively in the process of incorporating it into our upcoming IGF submission build.
The cherry on top of our already great day was when we were graciously asked to stick around and show our game again at the best of the game tasting reception! it was a total surprise and a huge honor.
Ludum Dare - We Must Explore
Took part in the Ludum Dare this weekend, the theme was Connected Worlds, you can play/rate my entry "We Must Explore" here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-30/?action=preview&uid=29650
Creeper Arms
Back from the dead! Here is a little update with some ambient animation background arms.
Every now and then I’m asked for good pixel art tools. Well, I love to use Photoshop for all my pixel stuff and I’ll surely stick to it since its extensive features.
But there are many free or fair-priced alternatives to find in the web and I would like to share a list of potentially useful...
These screenshots were taken from 3 different puzzle rooms. Some of the mechanics you can see in the shots are: color shifting, gravity lifts, and color force fields.
Adding detail sprites and deco, this shot also shows off an activated portal and a glimpse of the new player.
Less than an hour until E3 opens its doors and you can all flood the indie haven of the IndieCade Showcase @ E3! We’re booth #2835 in the South Hall. Here are the games we’re showing. Doesn’t the booth look great?
Force Fields
New fx and a scripted phase sequence have the force fields feeling pretty complete. This mechanic has proved to be invaluable to our level design process.
Ground detail
Swapping out placeholder sprites for some better looking ones.
Some more front end work, still iterating on the portal animations and layout.
Front End Polish
Started to play around with an idea for the front end splash screen, thought it came out pretty well. Lots to keep tweaking!

Indie Tools
Rami from Vlambeer put together a great list of tools and resources for indies, definitely worth bookmarking.
