“You never know what the circumstances might just be.”
“I can safely say that this town isn’t the type of environment where people whip out swords with no prior notice.”
elias-arowome:
“Well if I remember Arthur, he’d moodier than me.” Elias said with a shrug of his shoulders. But maybe that was just his encounters with Pippa’s husband in the past. Surely, behind closed doors, they were much different with one another. “But if you’re selfish, you’re selfish. He’d either gonna have to get that - or not.” He said, “You can’t live an eternity and not change.” Even though Elias had carried such a burden with him for so long, he knew that he had definitely changed over the years as well. Pippa definitely would have done the same, even if their existence and experiences were far different, change was inevitable.
“I can’t understand why,” Pippa said. She wanted to raise her hands in frustration, but that would be too dramatic. It didn’t surprise her that Elias knew Arthur, they’d both been part of the same small community for far too long. It did, however, worry her that Arthur was so sad, or moody, as Elias put it. That wasn’t the man she remembered; how were they supposed to move forward? To adjust? “Have you always been this wise? I’m not sure I like it.” Their friendship didn’t usually encompass talking about emotions. For one thing, neither of them tended to feel deeply about anything all that often. Fitting, then that the last time had been regarding Elias’ wife.
bitemexchuck:
“Yeah. I wouldn’t want that,” Chuck gave Pippa a sheepish smile, before quickly changing the direction of the conversation. “Do you ever get used to it? The whole um… vamp thing?”
Such a sweet girl, Pippa thought. Such potential. For what, specifically, she didn’t know, but Charlotte had an eternity to figure it out. “Of course you do. You have to want it, though, and ask for help when you need it. It’s always available if you choose.”
jamesxthatch:
“That’s not what I meant,” he said, giving her a knowing look. He’d meant if she’d had a wedding between her first one, and now. “And no. I wouldn’t have shaved.” A wedding like that would’ve been prime real estate for him. It stunk of pompous fools with more wealth than they knew what to do with. He would’ve been all too happy to take some off their hands. At her story, he only shook his head, staring at nothing in particular on the ground. Hell if he didn’t know that feeling well. The only difference was that his hallucinations were real. “Even when I think I’m free of a woman’s husband, he still manages to come back from the fucking grave.” A good natured smile spread over his lips. “I presume it was a happy reunion?”
“I know what you meant, just as you knew that I hadn’t gone off and gotten married since the last time I’d seen you. If you wanted to be obtuse, James, you should have been prepared for the same.”
Of course he wouldn’t have shaved. It was far too difficult to care what others thought of you when you lived for an eternity. “He was never sent to his grave, fortunately. You may presume whatever you’d like,” she said firmly, a small smile on her face.
genevievebeauchamp:
Genevieve chuckled, a smile spreading across her features. “Well, I’m glad I could surprise you. I trust you, Pippa. It’s time I have a little romance back in my life. Don’t you think?”
“I do think, Genevieve, I’m only surprised you’ve managed to reach this conclusion on your own. What brings about this change of heart?”
nik-heimirsson:
“It’s a beauty, isn’t it? One of my old trophies.” Nik spoke as he picked up the old sword, playing with it between his hands, almost longingly. “At the risk of sounding old, guns just don’t bring the same beauty into a fight.”
“Are you planning on attending a sword fight in the near future?”
ryan-carrcll:
“What’ll you have?” a friendly smile, a nonchalant lean against the aged wooden counter, half turned so he doesn’t block their view of the assorted liquors lined up on the back wall. “Happy hours still goin’ on so you’ve got some good deals on local IPA’s and our mixed drinks are pretty popular too.”
“One Long Island Iced Tea, please,” Pippa said, resting her forearms against the bar. No elbows on the table, no matter how laid back the environment. He was handsome, this bartender. Not as handsome as her husband, and yet still pretty to look at. She wasn’t sure what the rules were when you found your husband after five hundred years apart, but asking the handsome bartender if he was on the menu didn’t seem appropriate, Instead, she said, “Unless you’d suggest something else.”
What's your favorite thing to do in your free time?
“I love to dance.”
who are your closest allies?
“What exactly have I done to need allies? I’ve purposely stayed out of any conflicts.”
Tahani, the queen of shade.
The Good Place Rewatch [2/∞]
genevievebeauchamp:
Genevieve chucked. “Oh I’m not too worried about it,” she explained. Truth be told, her life had become stable, but Genevieve was still missing something that made her feel a spark the way she had before. It had been nearly a century since she was last betrayed. Maybe it was time for something less casual.
“I have to say, you have taken me completely by surrpise, Genevieve. I love this. I shall find someone for you. My new project.”
Now that she finally had a home she was in the process of carefully decorating, Pippa wanted to fill it with more than carefully selected pieces. She wanted some life in the place, considering this wouldn’t simply be a temporary home. She wasn’t going to leave as soon as she got bored, not with the way tensions were rising. Not when she had a husband here.
A dog. That was what she wanted.
Furever Pawsitive, cutely named and brightly lit, seemed like the perfect place to do so, and as she stepped inside, she saw a familiar face. Ah yes, Pippa thought. Henrietta. The veterinarian.
“Hello,” she said cheerfully, approaching the other woman. “How nice to see you again.”

catharina-rina:
“At least,” Catharina agreed seriously, though there was an amused tilt to her lips. She did not doubt Pippa’s fondness for her, and she knew that her affection towards Pippa was known as well. It was in both their natures to tease each other.
“If I haven’t gone crazy by now, especially since I sired you….” Rina shook her head, trailing off and letting Pippa fill in the blanks of the sentence.
She shook her head again, this time in fond exasperation. “It certainly would have made it real when I tracked him down for you and he was right at your feet.” They could have been reunited that much sooner.
“Three hundred years ago, I didn’t have that knowledge now, did I?” Pippa asked. “And since I hadn’t told you from the start, I didn’t know how to bring it up as time went on. It was painful to think about him, anyway, I tried to do it as little as possible.” The first time she’d seen him, she hadn’t been able to shake the uneasiness, the pain and guilt and love and grief, for decades. It had ruined her, and she didn’t know if she’d hidden it well. “I prefer him to be standing up, actually, but I appreciate the sentiment.”
“I’m happy to see him. I’m overjoyed, I just don’t know who he is. I don’t know if I’m supposed to be bound to this person now. I’m worried, mostly, that he won’t want me once we find out more about each other.”
lukasblackwells:
“You seem to think your opinion on the matter is needed and that you know how to run a business better than I do.” He twisted the logic back at her. Was she right? Did he have an ego problem? Absolutely, but Lukas didn’t see his large ego as a problem. “Stains on your clothing is your issue, hm? Why don’t I give you classes on how to eat properly instead? That sounds like your issue at the end of the day, Pippa. Are you having trouble drinking from the source without making a mess?”
“If the shoe fits, Lukas, wear it.” Pippa didn’t know if he simply didn’t care or if Purgatory’s interior was a design choice, and she didn’t care. Everything about the supernatural and their lives didn’t have to be hidden, dirty. “As much as you love our kind, I’d have thought you’d want to make all sorts of vampires feel welcome at Purgatory.”
henrywhitlam:
“It’s fair.” Henry nodded at the blonde, smiling lightly. “Don’t worry, I get the deal. Even for us it’s the same and we’re mortal. Sometimes it’s pretty simple, we just… Save money and got a long time of it, eventually you have more savings than most humans can think it’s possible.” It was like that for her, Henry wasn’t one for a frugal life, she’d never been.
“Exactly. And I apologize, I never mentioned my name. It’s Pippa.” She’d finished her glass of water by now, and the woman’s bruise was healing. Checking her watch, Pippa looked up. “I have to take my leave now, but I hope the next time I see you, it will be happier circumstances.”
