It's because she was originally an Inhuman but the Inhumans aren't popular. Ms. Marvel IS popular so they ended up distancing her from the Inhumans as much as possible, eventually making her an X-Man instead because the X-Men sell better. They then changed her powers in the MCU because light powers are cheaper to CG and test better with mainstream audiences than her weird gross shapeshifting, even though her powers being weird and gross is thematically important to her character. They then changed her comic powers to match the MCU ones for synergy's sake.

Kamala's often been a victim of her own success, executive mishandling squeezing all the nuance and intention out of her character. Many such cases. The suits will back off and we'll get a good writer for her again eventually. Hopefully. Her Tokon appearance having her classic shapeshifting powers and original costume is a good sign that the initial design intentions are iconic enough to survive. Just like Spider-Man never keeps organic webs, Ms. Marvel will retain her shapeshifting.

Well. The funny part is that she came out of a MAJOR push to bring inhumans to the center, by way of... having them be x-men. Like, while terrigen was a pre-existing thing, the whole "terrigen storms that randomly make people inhuman" thing was a very new concept that kinda just... made them conceptually the same as mutants, a random "empowering" event that could happen anywhere at any time. And this whole thing started bc some fucking exec at marvel HATED the X-Men... because Sony had their film rights and so they weren't making them more Disney Billions. And he wanted to shoehorn the Inhumans into being Basically Just X-Men so THEY could make Disney Billions instead. When he got fired this push went with him, and so inhumans got quietly shuffled back to Not That Much Prominence, and their biggest breakout got shuffled over to X-men territory.

There's a reason imo the inhumans didn't work as the replacement for the x men (which they were being reinvented as around the time of kamala khan's inception due to iirc film rights)

While it may have bounced around over the years, from racism to homophobia or neurodivergence and back to racism (with emma frost basically saying great replacement theory in a recent run), the x men typically stand as a metaphor for marginalised groups in society (granted it hasn't always been handled well, see that one time an official ttrpg gave you a bonus for comparing mutants to Israel, no I'm not joking)

The inhumans on the other are a eugenicist caste based society with a literal slave race of and I'm directly quoting the wiki here "sub-human servants" and they have a way of turning humans into said slave (they would later try to cover this up) also the fact according an old avengers annual the fact that they have a slave race means the UN has consistently denied them entry

Mike Brooks is a pretty solid writer and, relevantly, gleefully shoves something gay into every 40k book he writes. This is the guy who introduced orks to pronouns, made the aeldari a genderqueer species, and slides queer couples into most of his books. I'm not certain what would happen if Chuck Tingle and Mike Brooks duking it out in Warhammer World, but I'm pretty sure the results would be magical.

duke thomas spends 10+ years getting comics and growth and plot and hes "too new" and people "dont know him well enough". superboy prime gets five minutes of character development and hes suddenly a fan favorite getting shipped with every character under the sun. i hate this fandom.

Ah yes Superboy-Prime, the violently bigoted manchild who feels a toxic sense of entitlement of something to the point of becoming a bully. Clearly someone we can identify with and is far more worthy of our attention then an amazingly complex and well written character with interesting dynamics and concepts.

(Also can't believe they decided to redeem Superboy-Prime of all people. I didn't read the story where it happened so I can't say much about how it happened but he's one of the last villains I'd think to redeem. Especially since his shtick of being a toxic fan is far more relevant nowadays when such people have the means to harass creators and other fans who don't agree with them)

Before the bullshit starts again if I see any motherfucker blaming Jesse for the lockdown failing and Manhattan getting sent into mayhem, it's gonna be ON. SIGHT.

This whole situation is because two men (Trench and Darling) fucked around and then fuck off as everyone else found out. I think those two are very compelling characters and I know Darling is a fan favorite of many but those two are nowhere near to being saints. Their hands are full of blood and they are the main culprits of the current state of the FBC.
