Hey everyone. Some of you are probably wondering where I've been, since usually my spam posting begins the moment AoS does. Truth is, I've sort of lost interest. After an anticlimactic end half of season three and a disappointing finale, I found myself not looking forward to season 4 as much as I have been for previous seasons. A lot of it has to do with the degree to which we were dicked around by ABC last season with the Marvel's Most Wanted thing. While I was never super excited for the spin off and never really deemed it necessary, I would have watched it so that I could see see Bobbi and Lance still. But then ABC cut them from Aos for no good reason after deciding the spin off wasn't happening. I'm quickly realizing that while it was never a big secret that Bobbi was my bias, she was a lot of the reason I was watching the show still. And now she's gone so I'm just sort of hanging here. I thought I would keep watching for May and Daisy, but they didn't have much of a relationship last season or much screen time either. Or at least not as much as they deserved. And I don't know if I can do another season of FitzSimmons-centric bullshit. I'm going to catch up eventually, but I haven't been watching it live and I'm probably not going to start anytime soon. (Doesn't help that I'm in school until 9:30 pm on the night it airs.) If they bring back Adrianne and Nick, my motivation to watch will be much higher. But I doubt that's going to happen at this point. I'll still be on this blog fairly often, and I'm still willing to discuss all manner of things AoS related. My inbox is open!

In case anyone wants to know exactly how terrible the new Captain America: Steve Rogers #1 is?  Here you go.  Not only is Steve Rogers a Hydra White Supremacist, but he always has been, and indeed became a hero because of said White Supremacists. 

I don’t have the mental energy to break down all the ways in which this is fucked up.  Creation of two Jewish men specifically as a reaction to White Supremacists and Nazis?  Symbol of doing what’s right whatever the cost to himself?  Historically (and canonically!) stood up for the poor, the queer, the non-white, non-Christian, the outcast? 

For the hopelessly optimistic who are hoping this is some kind of bluff or double-blind?  It’s not.

But Marvel executive editor Tom Brevoort confirms that it’s really Steve Rogers and not some clone, shapeshifting Skrull, Life Model Decoy or a Cap from an alternate universe.

It’s hard to see this as anything other than more Straight White Dude Gatekeeping, yet another way of saying “you don’t belong here.”  I’ve been hearing that for more than thirty years now, and I’m tired.

It’s Tuesday.  Steve Rogers #1 comes out tomorrow.  We only have a short opportunity to kill sales.  And make no mistake, killing sales is the ONLY WAY Marvel will listen.  Please encourage people to NOT buy the comic this week.  Please encourage people to pull it from their pull list.  Or, if it was on your pull list, to not buy it.  Force the stores to have a blacklog.  I normally don’t like to do anything that will hurt the LCS; I’m willing to make an expectation with this.

And MOST of all, please tweet @nickspencer and @Marvel on twitter with your disgust.  (I’ve been using #CapIsNotHydra unless someone can think of something better.)  They need to know this blatant disregard for Captain America’s Jewish creators and their intentions for the character is unacceptable and not something we will support.
