So I watched the movie

I see a lot of posts about Grace saving Simon but what about Grace ending up in the Iron Lung with him?

Simon thinks it's another hallucination at first and staunchly tries to ignore him but Grace is terrified and overly CHATTY, talking to himself out loud and trying to make sense of what has happened.

Eventually, Simon explains where they are and why (if only for his own sanity) and Grace points out things that Simon hadn't realized at first, like asking if the camera used xrays in order to capture images of their surroundings (as obviously a regular photo camera wouldn't work in an ocean of blood) or wondering how radio waves could even reach them through such an iron-rich substance.

Grace spending an hour in absolute silence reading the manuals that Simon discarded.

Grace triangulating their position using the rudimentary maps and coordinates available.

Grace talking about something called "astrophage" and wondering if this is what happens if he fails.

Meanwhile, Rocky is running around the Hail Mary SCREAMING.

I don't really go here but imagine for a moment that Simon wakes up on the Hail Mary, terrified and desperate. He doesn't know how he got there or why.

Grace is equally terrified. There shouldn't be anyone else. Another human, untrained and unwilling, in this equation could ruin the mission.

Rocky is loud and unfamiliar to Simon. Grace has grabbed a makeshift weapon. He's scared and backed into a corner, ready to start swinging if need be. But then the NannyBot sedates him. He tries to fight it but can't. Confused and scared as he falls flat on his face.

Rocky wonders why Grace seems even more upset afterward. He can't see the way the blood drained from his face.

It's not just that it reminded him of what happened to him. It's that the NannyBot had a protocol for it in the first place.

like i cannot stress enough if ur white u have been raised and taught to view urself as the center of the world, almost all media caters to you, ur cultures viewpoints dictate the world, ur ancestors are the “victors” of colonialism and shaped the planet to fit white supremacy, that little voice in ur head that tells you to comment on every post about racism u see with stuff like “LISTEN to this white people” “im white, but this is important” “im as white as snow but i also agree with this” is not the compassionate gesture u think it is

that little voice is ur taught racist desire to center urself and ur opinion as more important and factual, something to be listened to above all else, because you were raised to believe you and everyone like you has the final say, you get uncomfortable when brown people voice frustrations because you don’t like reckoning with how the entire world is shaped in your image, you need to ignore that little voice that tells you your input is needed, because that little voice means absolutely nothing to the lived experiences of people of color, we donot need your approval or for you to agree for the racist history that has oppressed all of us to be true, we donot need YOU to tell us we are right when it has already been proven through history, through statistics, on the millions of lives lost to genocide and war in the name of white supremacy, you are not the center of the world, you are just taught that you are

i dont consider myself a 'fashion guru' by any means but one thing i will say is guys you dont need to know the specific brand an item you like is - you need to know what the item is called. very rarely does a brand matter, but knowing that pair of pants is called 'cargo' vs 'boot cut' or the names of dress styles is going to help you find clothes you like WAAAYYYY faster than brand shopping

this also goes for aesthetic or -core titles. 'y2k tank top' is going to get you resellers and fast fashion brands advertising to people looking to meet a current trend. 'thin strap crop tank top' is going to get you a diverse group of results and not upcharge you to hell and back

additionally, shop second hand when you can, second hand and thrift sites typically organize clothes by the cut and color. theyll be more affordable than a depop seller curating you a style to sell you
