At the moment I´m very busy with all sort of things, so here´s an illustration I did in 2019. This amazing woman is Laura Stálhalamcen /Grizzlypaws, a member of the bear clan of the St'át'imc Nation in Canada.
She began very early to rediscover the ancient traditions of her people. Today, she´s doing quite a few things - she is an academic, dancer, writer and singer, drummer, teacher and stand up for the indigenous people. . As I´ve read in an interview she gave, when she wears the hide while dancing she becomes one with Grizz - that's how she named her beautiful bear regalia. Through the dances Grizz can continue to walk on earth, just a bit different. As the natural habitats of the grizzly bears continued to decline in the course of time, Grizz was put down for the safety of the people. But through the deep respect that he receives from the dances and ceremonies he won´t be forgotten.
