My take on Charlatan’s lore!

Ok so Charlatan has been trending in the forsaken community recently (mainly on TikTok but shhhh) anyway he might take on her lore

TW FOR DRUG USE, OVERDOSE, AND SUICIDE!!!

Charlatans background is different to every person because she's a Charlatan and tells different story's to different people to lie but eventually the many masks she wears leeds to a identity crisis and eventually insanity

but in reality Her real backstory is a lot more grim: Charlotte aka 'Charlatan' was an entertainer for party's, events, and Kids birthday party's. Even meeting other entertainers like Ringmaster, whom she met on various occasions and despite Ringmaster being from a rival company he found it fun to be around her and enjoyed her company.

Unfortunately, Charlotte was kidnapped by G0Z as a test subject for a dangerous and psychedelic drug into her, completely changing her mental state. This drug that G0Z injected in her was called 'The Happy Party Funtime injection' or IV-383404jr. It's side effects?

Happiness.

Destructive and gory Happiness.

Essentially giving the person injected with it pyro vision, these side effects drove Charlotte into a manic Happiness and after being released, she became a serial killer. Killing adults at gigs (the most gory ones being at children's birthday partys) seeing it as nothing but a fun game to her, and eventually after weeks of murder Charlotte was found passed out on a sidewalk due to heat stroke.

After being found The Government put her in a coma, making new, more powerful versions of IV-383404, and testing it on Charlotte.

But she was in her own world inside her head.

Charlatan found herself in 'epic minigames' a world crafted by her own madness built for her. Charlatan loved it there, she had a pet duck, she entertained people, she made friends, she had fun. Until one day she was challenged to travel to the wall, the border of her world and climb it.

And Charlatan was willing to do anything for attention and made her break out of her coma in the real world.

The drugs were wearing off as well. Seeing flickers of where she really was and she stayed perseverant. Charlatan finally got to the wall, but at this point she didn't see it as a challenge anymore.

She saw it as an escape.

And when she got to the top she only saw the skybox, an endless void of the same image of a light blue sky with clouds. In reality she was at the roof of the facility, looking down at the emergency vehicle's and onlookers with faces of frear. But Charlatan didn't know that.

And she jumped off killing herself.

Maybe Kyoko x Griefer x Player cuddling?

"So, the underground didn't treat you guys so well after all, huh?" Kyoko had watched you and Griefer return to the campsite, both of you bandaged up from both of your time training against the toughest of bosses down below... and she wasn't wrong, today was a bit more of a struggle. Still, Griefer scoffed, being as stubborn as always. "Maybe if you had joined us, things would've gone better." Kyoko laughed at that. "Nice try, but I won't be getting close to that place in a million years. That's both of your turfs." Exhausted, you flopped down onto your sleeping bag, allowing Kyoko to pat your back as Griefer sat down next to you. Ever since you got the Firebrand, all you've been doing is training. It was the only thing you could think about doing ever since what happened back at... You shuddered at remembering it all again.

Griefer seemed to notice your shuddering. "Jeez, don't tell me that fighting exhausted you that badly, heh." "As if you aren't exhausted too," Kyoko teasingly pointed out, and when the other made a flustered pout, she continued. "Well, I guess it would be fine to hit the hay. It's late, after all." Griefer lay down next to you with a groan. "Fiiine... Guess it is a little later than usual, or whatever." A pause before you saw him scoot closer to you, his arm near your head. You glanced at him, a little confused, before he said. "Well? You shuddered earlier, so I thought you were cold, s-so just lay against me for a bit." It did make you smile as you moved your head to lie on his arm. You could also feel Kyoko snuggle up against you from behind, her hand partially holding onto Griefer's as she smiled casually. "We'll have another big day tomorrow... So, night guys." "Yeah, yeah, night..." Saying your own goodnight, you closed your eyes, a smile still on your face. It was moments like these that helped to remind you that maybe things would end up okay, no matter what happens in your journey.

I've been fussing with some templates to show OC relationships with the companions, for both FO4 and FO:NV, and I figured I could share them, to see if anyone else could get some use out of them too!

These templates took heavy inspiration, with permission, from this fantastic Dragon Age: The Veilguard affiliations template by Halkuonn.

I'm quite happy with these, but I want to be perfectly transparent: graphic design is not usually my passion, and so there are lots of little ways in which they are a bit amateur or imperfect. I don't mind it, but I just wanted to state up front that I'm well aware lol. This also means that I might have missed clear labels for some layers/folders, and if that's the case, I apologize for any confusion it might cause.

I'm also well aware Benny isn't a companion, but there was a spot open and I know plenty of Couriers have Strong Feelings about the guy, so he seemed like a good fit, you know?

With all that acknowledged, here's a look at what a completed version of the Fallout 4 template might look like:

General vibes on using these:

Go wild!

Use them for player characters for these games, or for other relevant OCs you might have.

There are vague guidelines on there for the different acts/points in the game, starting from the center and moving out with time, but you're welcome to turn those off or ignore them, of course.

Right now the companion portraits are pulled from their wiki pages, which means some of them are not super flattering lmao. Feel free to replace them with your own pics/art.

Toggle off characters from DLC you didn't have/didn't meet, or replace them with other characters that mattered more to your OC's story, or just ignore them. Up to you!

Also feel free to tweak the colors/labels for the relationships depending on your own preferences and/or what best fits your OC. Color things in solid, or gradient, or polka dot, whatever floats your boat and shows the relationships best in your opinion.

If you want to adapt these for other Fallout games, go for it! You're welcome to share those templates, too, of course, as long as they're freely accessible. If you do, a link back to this post would be mighty appreciated. And tag me so I can see 👀.

For real, the world is your oyster, just don't find some way to use these for weird heinous bigoted shit, don't smack any A/I slop in there, and we're absolutely golden. <3
