my cishet male over 30 friend watched until about Season 7 or 8 (then his interest just tapered off) and he doesn't see any Wincest in the show. he knows it exists and he knows about general fandom culture, he just genuinely doesn't see it and the gay jokes are just jokes to him.

which is imo a common theme - not just with cishet men but with everyone, that jokes and other innuendo are both incredibly easy to overlook but also incredibly easy to latch onto.
