This is called a Thorn Mellon and you can find it in the wild, because it grows on its own. It's in the family of cucumbers. But we found this in our backyard.
You can eat it when it is ripe and when it is not ripe.
That's what the insides look like.
So I tried it... and it tastes just like cucumber. I don't even know why they call it melon? It's just a cucumber with different skin.
