MY SHOW
how daniel molloy feels after trying to conduct an accurate interview about vampires, but his subjects are louis de pointe du lack of information, lestat de lyingcourt, armanipulator, and claudead.
louis' narration: it was dusk. the smell of petrichor still lingered in the air, greeting me as i woke and pondered my new existence as a vampire, a creature of the night. as the sun set and gave way to new darkness, so too had something awakened in me, a bloodlust that could not be sated. was i now man or monster? or something in between, a perversion of even the natural order in which all other beings reside?
lestat's narration: yeah so i drained someone at my concert and almost overdosed on LSD and MDMA but that's just another tuesday amirite? so i fucked her in the elevator and killed a bunch of vampires with daniel (ugh, i hate him though what a loser 🙄) i wish louis still loved me
them being “TOI” and “MOI” them being me and you. them being you and me. you and me. me and you. fuckkkkk
Divorcees mogging each other has fully revived me and added an extra 10 years to my lifespan.
Louis: "Let the tale seduce you, just as I was seduced"
Louis tells us a story for the first two seasons, and it IS a tale of seduction. It's about his romantic partners (Lestat, Armand) but it's also about HIS identity. Louis becomes comfortable with his identity as a vampire: "the dark gift" and the seasons close with him seeing vampirism as a gift rather than a curse.
Louis is turned out of love. Lestat loves him, and when he turns him into a vampire, he asks if this is what he wants. Lestat repeats Louis HAS to nod/say yes.
By contrast, Lestat is not turned into a vampire out of love. (book spoilers) he's turned out of force, and he resists until the end. And our introduction into his world is similarly chaotic.
The tale is not to seduce us. The narration skips around, it deflects, it plays with disgust and violence, and it's in your face. I think this is going to be a story where instead of seducing the viewer, the viewer is degraded/toyed with/appalled.
i do love how Lestat is like "I NEVER had a fuckass bob! NEVER!"
once the snap chat filter editing came out and we got a montage of sex scenes while lestat manically rants about his immortal erection interspersed with a single unexplained unjustified three seconds of a unedited png of a vodka bottle stuck on an unrelated shot that’s when I fucking knew that this season truly will embody the closest TV equivalent to what it feels like to read an Anne rice book and I’m so fucking stunned and amazed
