To my brave EMS brothers and sisters in Paris... Thank you. I can't imagine the things you saw and the feelings you felt... Stay strong. Stay safe. Love from EMS, UK.

Amazing to get positive feedback from my mentors.
Had a bit of time away from Tracey recently whilst I have been following Jon as a mentor. Out with Tracey again today and she commented how much I've progressed and how she can see I've been working on targets she set me. Makes me very happy to know I'm building on all the feedback I've been given and making myself a better practitioner. Since I started out, my handover has gone from an anxiety-ridden mess to a strong, confident handover to major trauma teams and paediatric resus teams. My demeanour with patients is a lot more comfortable and my history taking is a lot more in depth. I'm also making decisions on treatment and care pathways for myself without any prompting by mentors. It's exciting to see myself becoming someone I wouldn't mind caring for a member of my family. And what's even better? I really love the job I'm doing. I'm so glad I chose to be a paramedic.
They let me crew ambulances. Because someone somewhere thinks I’m a responsible human being…
this is an easy to follow flow chart on when to call an ambulance for a seizure.

Trauma lamps are great for trauma but know what they're even better for? Sleeping.
i want to become a doctor but i'm really kind of scared that i won't be able to withstand the decade long training or that i'm not passionate enough for it, i really really want to be though, i'm just scared that i'm not. right now, i'm a sophomore in high school. what do i do? please help and thank you
Sorry for the time it took to answer this. Life has been rather chaotic. My answer to this is relatively simple. It will be difficult but if you really do want to study medicine so much you will withstand the training with the support you need. The fact that you've asked for help now shows you have passion there. However, it's always worth thinking of a contingency plan on either an alternative route into medicine or a different course that you'd be happy with. I was determined to become a Dr and I still very well may. I'm current training to be a paramedic and although it has ups and downs I love many aspects of it and I always have the option to progress to being a doctor if I so wish :)I hope this helps. If you want it, study hard, friend. Good luck.
V Festival 2015
This event is the best weekend I have ever had. No, I didn’t get to see any artists - I volunteered Friday-Monday providing first aid and medical cover for the public, all day, every day (1030-0000 to be precise). Let me tell you, so many people this weekend asked me, “Why the fuck would you want to do that?” when I told them I volunteered. I have no real answer for them… It’s fun but I can’t say why in any certain terms. I met so many new people in St John Ambulance and had a laugh with them. I made members of the public happy after being in really shit situations; so many of them said thank you to me, shook my hand, or asked for a photo with me. They were funny, grateful and patient (pardon the pun). Here, at V Festival, I nearly cried in front of a patient for the first time. I’ve never done so or even been close to doing so - even talking to a man I just resuscitated’s wife… I had new experiences. I saw the full effects of MDMA and ketamine for the first time. I got another person’s vomit on me. I listened to young people cry and saw them fearfully ask, “You won’t tell my parents, will you?” Politely I reassured them that no, I wouldn’t. I coached a young girl out of a panic attack. I talked to a young guy with learning difficulties. I got a girl with a UTI some antibiotics. I fucking made people happy. So, why did I volunteer to do V? I don’t know why I signed up but I know why I’ll be returning. I fucking made people happy, that’s why.
