I keep seeing posts about how bad they thing the writing is for the third season of Interview with the Vampire. And yeah, sure some things are a bit heavy handed and tone deaf, and they could have done some things better...

But I'm sorry, have you ready the source material? The one where Louis is a white plantation owner? Where Claudia is an actual child, not a young teen? Where Akasha, an ancient Queen of Egypt, is described as white skinned with black hair?

You do know that there's a book called Memnoch the Devil where Lestat goes on a dates inferno inspired trip to hell, meets jesus, steals and drags back his shroud, brings about a mass suicide of vampires (including Louis, who is revived), and also drinks menstrual blood?

No matter how ham fisted the story arcs of the show are... They are nothing compared to the shit Anne Rice put in the actual books.

They are trying to bring several different books and plot lines into one season, while adapt it for the modern era. Of course they are going to drop one or two of the plates they are juggling.

Just be glad they are juggling plates at all
