a misogynistic society is so threatened by the concept of trans women - women that "had the opportunity" to be privileged men and chose not to - that they start making up privileges women have in order to explain why trans women exist. going into womens restrooms isnt a privilege, playing womens sports isnt a privilege, lesbianism isnt a privilege, yet they present them as such to try and explain why trans women are women for nefarious reasons. a misogynistic society will never understand that trans women have no ulterior motive for being women

You know every show that the premise is like “people find out ghosts/monsters/demons are real and are charged with stopping them” appeal to me way more now as a post-graduate not because I believe in ghosts more or whatever but because can you IMAGINE just being handed a job that you don’t even need to apply for? as much as i don’t believe that kevin is straight, i find the idea of him actually being straight and no one believing him about it so amusing. like there are some speculations and rumours early on (because of riko and andrew) but by the time he starts being called “the queen of exy” most people just assume he’s queer, and by the time he goes pro it’s stated as fact by most fans even though he has never come out. and since his mom created the sport and he’s the best at it, being perceived as a queer athlete doesn’t actually affect how many fans kevin has, or his opportunities all that much

of course, kevin “it’s easier to remain heterosexual” day has a lot of thoughts and feelings about all of it. a lot of stress, mostly. he scours the internet for “kevin gay compilation”s and keeps pausing them to explain, out loud to an empty room, that going on a tangent about neil josten’s thighs isn’t weird when when in the context of discussing his speed and leg strength. one time jerejean and catlaila show up to a photoshoot for an athleticwear brand’s pride collection or a queer youth in sports charity or something and find kevin there too, because he was afraid turning it down would have made people believe he was homophobic instead. he almost makes a social media post coming out as straight but doesn’t for the same reason (and because nicky, his gay friend who works in pr, laughed hysterically at him when he mentioned it). he’s occasionally accused of queerbaiting by unserious magazines and random people on twitter and he just watches it happen with a thousand yard stare. he didn’t choose this life, it chose him
