What do you like the most about your essay?

What I like most about my essay is that it treats social media engagement as something created by real people, not just numbers on a screen. Framing likes, comments, and saves as audience choices helped me think differently about content strategy and made my analysis feel more meaningful. I’m also proud of how the project centers teachers as a discourse community with shared experiences and values. That focus helped me move away from business-centered content strategy models and toward an analysis that feels more grounded in everyday learning and community building.

What do I like most about my essay?

What I like most about my essay is the data analysis I did. I had a really fun time going through the different accounts and collecting the data. I liked being able to talk about the data and know what I was talking about. I thought I did a decent job at trying to get all my points across.

I had a very similar experience with my essay. Collecting the data myself made the analysis easier for me because I had a better understanding of what the data represented. I think collecting it myself, and about a topic I picked, made my points get across well in my essay

I like most that I have actionable knowledge from this class. I can take what I learned and continue to apply it to what I want to do in the future, whether that be in my classes as a teacher or in my personal professional endeavors, I think that this learning that I have done will help me directly and immediately.

I am most proud of the changes that I made in my writing process. I felt like I was able to do a lot of meaningful revisions to make my essay and writing much better. A lot of the time when I write academically I sit down and get it done in one go, and this time I think with the revisions I made a much better product.

I like most about my essay that I was able to find meaningful conclusions about a media space I am looking to get involved in in the future. I would like to open a business and use social media to promote, and my essay and research gave me a lot of insight into what makes that work.

The biggest question I still have about web writing after finishing this course is how writers can continue to communicate messages that reflect the discourse community of a changing audience while also adapting to shifts in platforms themselves. As platforms evolve through algorithm changes, new formats, or shifting user expectations, how can web writers stay responsive to those changes without losing authenticity or disconnecting from the community they are trying to reach?

This is a drafting week. Share images of what helps you draft essays - what helps you get into a writing mindset? why?

When I have to get into a writing mindset I give myself a very detailing to do list, with intentional breaks and activities to do to help keep me focused and stay on task, like going for a walk or getting a drink, to break things up but let me write for long periods of time and dig into what I am trying to accomplish.

These are some of my graphs used for our Content Analysis Project! I feel like they might be a little too heavy and a bit hard to understand. Do you guys think I should revise them or keep them as they are?

I am a big fan of graphs, especially when dealing with quantitative data. They can give a break from reading and help understand the content differently than text is able to. That being said, these graphs do show a clear and intentional message even if they are complicated, and instead of simplifying them you could explain what exactly they are measuring a little extra so when the readers see the graph it is all information they are familiar with.

How does my data and content analysis section look? Should I add anything? Did I miss anything?

First I think that looking at audio usage in relation to engagement is a really cool idea one I didn't even think about until now.

I think that this might be a little more effective of a section if you went on to provide details about what qualifies as engagement in your research. Overall this sends a strong message about research that is grounded in organized and well thought out.

I think that this looks good, thorough and detailed. Providing the timelines and the specifics is important. Feedback that I was given that might also be useful for you to make you method more repeatable is to explain exactly what each code is and how you define and identify posts to categorize them. Outside of that I think this method looks very well done.

“What digital space are you planning to focus on and WHY?”

I am planning on diving into the world on Instagram family influencers! Instagram is a platform where authenticity is highly valued. The audience wants to see the “real” life events happening in their daily life. Of course any influencer carefully curates posts to appear a specific way, but I am curious how these influencers balance their personal lives while already sharing so much of their life on social media. I am also curious to dig into how influencers strategically use brand deals on their accounts, and balance how much of each type of content they are posting.

That’s a really interesting idea, especially looking at engagement and performance data on influencer content. I’m also curious to see what patterns you find, particularly when it comes to how promotions and ads are integrated into “real life” blog content.

How am I narrowing down my account choices?

I am narrowing down my account choices by first picking a topic I like, Music, and then selecting a sub topic in that category, and finding instagram accounts I follow in that category. I chose to select instagram music accounts that play bluegrass music. Before I selected accounts I looked at the ones I follow and selected three with enough posts to collect data on. Of these accounts I chose, two accounts are guitar player one of which is a lessons account, and the other is a banjo player. With these accounts I will be able to collect data and analyze the type of content, while also researching something I enjoy.

I used a very similar method to narrow down my choices, following almost the same logic. Finding accounts that target the same audience but focus on different aspects of that space sets you up for much more effective data collection and comparison.

How I Divided the Project Up

In order to complete this project in the best way possible, time management was essential. For each day I was working I set goals on what I wanted to complete in a certain time period. For the first day I set the goal of collecting and organizing all the data. For the second day I wrote and submitted the draft. Lastly, the third day I produced and submitted my final piece.

This is really similar to what I am trying to do, and it has been really helpful, given the asynchronous nature of the class, to have consistent goals to hit each day to avoid anything piling up
