Today was a good day to brew up the newly revamped API IPA kit from Mr. Beer. I've "brewed" using their older style kits and this certainly had a better aroma right off the bat, and I look forward to seeing how it came out.

Gettin' a little love from the November Pack-A-News issue. I have to say, that Leisure Club is sounding pretty good right about now.
Be sure to check out this show on the new Esquire network. Channel 64 in the Packanack Lake area. Really gets the liver tingling.
Last year I made a Milk Stout that had a combination of Chocolate and Cherry flavoring to it. Which came out OK, but I made a few changes.
This year's version is still a Milk Stout, but I dropped the Cherry - it got lost in the flavor anyway. And last year I used a chocolate extract for flavoring, this year I used real dark chocolate nibs to try to make it more authentic. It shouldn't be too strong, probably between 4.5 and 5%. Perfect for taking the edge off of a cold winter day. It will be ready to enjoy by Christmas time, when the kids are used to seeing their old man stumbling around the house and cursing at unlit bulbs on the tree.
For this meeting, try to bring something you haven't tried before and we'll have a club tasting session. Let's also brainstorm an upcoming brewery visit.
Some crazy fermentation of the American Honey Wheat from yesterday's Brew day.
BREW DAY - American Honey Wheat
Happy IPA Day! What IPA are y’all drinking today? Maybe a @newbelgium Ranger? Or @foundersbrewing All Day? Or a @dogfishbeer 90 minute? Perhaps an @odellbrewing IPA? There’s some great IPA’s in the world so go snag one. by the_beer_enthusiast http://instagram.com/p/ceiXcxGSjp/
Props to Carton Brewing and Kane Brewing for making beer worth drinking right here in the Garden State. Keep up the good work, boys.
Last night marked the first Field Trip for the Packanack Lake Home Brew Club. We ventured over to local beer bar, The Shepherd and the Knucklehead to sample some of their selections.
A fine night, indeed.

Some nice hops being grown out in front of the Cape May Brewing Company headquarters. Absolutely worth a visit if ever in the area. A nice taproom to hang out in, and also get growlers filled. No six packs though.
Cascade Hops being grown by PLHBC member and green-thumb, Mike.

Thursday, July 11th marked the inaugural meeting of the Packanack Lake Home Brewers Club and while turn out was light, there are good things in the works already. Here, our club president talks shop with fellow home brew club member, Richard.
Stay tuned to our Tumblr for more updates and scheduling info.

Hey Home Brewers,
We're looking for members. No brewing experience is needed, just an interest in good beer and the joy it brings. As the club gets up and running, we hope to organize trips to nearby breweries, provide home brewing tutorials, recipe exchanges, beer tastings, and most importantly club brew days.
Our inaugural meeting will be held July 11, 2013 at 8:00 pm on the Clubhouse deck. Those with home brewing experience should feel free to bring some samples along to share.
Come on out, relax, and talk home brew.
