Book 7.5 jamikali is by far the funniest outcome for canon jamikali. I feel like before it happened everyone was assuming large amounts of angst and turmoil and therapy and talking but actually it boiled down to Jamil deciding he wants to be the one in the tumblr posts going “you want to kiss me so bad it makes you look stupid” and Kalim forced into the role of “you should be addicted so shutting the fuck up”

It’s so funny. It’s so cute I cannot describe how charming it is to me. Jamil desiring to be like Azul and Leona and just be openly a little brat and he finally achieved it. He doesn’t want to be free from Kalim he just wants it so Kalim is stuck with him Jesus Christ.

All of this bullshit just for Jamil to realize he wants a relationship with Kalim but just on his own terms.

He in fact wants to be wifed up. He wants to be the princess here. I cannot fathom how insane they seem to the outside world.

I love it when Jamil is surprised about some fact about Kalim. Mr knows everything about Kalim slowly realizing he doesn’t know shit. They were super close in Kalim’s mind and Jamil’s in a sense but in reality it’s more complicated. So there’s very well stuff that has happened to Kalim or just aspects of his person Jamil doesn’t know. Unlike a normal person who wouldn’t be bothered by this, it irritates the fuck out of Jamil lowkey and he’s kinda irritated at Kalim for never mentioning something about it earlier meanwhile Kalim is like “you really wanted me to tell you that I don’t really like mauve???” Or “I didn’t think it was important to mention I’ve been to a ballet before?” Like it’s some minor ass shit but Jamil is peeved for no goddamn reason and god forbid someone else knew before him.

Person A: oh hey do you think Kalim would like this?

Jamil: Kalim would be happy with this probably-

Leona: are you stupid he dislikes wearing *insert color* clothing?

Haunting humiliating he needs to kill Kalim everyone and then himself. Jamil takes so much pride in being smart and good at watching over Kalim. The concept of him overlooking something is gonna bother him in the back of his mind forever. Like the tiniest of rocks permanently trapped in his shoes.

Again it’s important to me that the detail is the most dumb petty small thing. Jamil of course would know basic things like Kalim’s favorite colors and allergies and most stories Kalim commonly shares with everyone. But fuck Jamil you didn’t even know he dislikes the texture of sherpa blankets? Wowwwwww

I just know post 7.5 book Jamil would pull the “if we broke up, would you get back together with your ex?” And Kalim would go “no ofc not!” And Jamil would go “you wouldn’t get back together with me?”

Jamil is pulling all those stupid girlfriend trick questions. It’s his guilty pleasure. He knows they are dumb but he likes watching Kalim panic a little. But if Kalim starts getting too sappy and lovey dovey and sincere he gets flustered and cancels his questions immediately.

Thinking about an alternative timeline where Kalim instead of taking everything he's expected to in the family, goes off into the world on his own. Like Princess Jasmine, Kalim leaves in the dead of night. A pack on his shoulder, itching with nervous anticipation to finally be free.

No more poisonings.

No more forced smiles.

No more pretending that he's not bothered by things.

Finally true freedom and peace and quiet.

He's ready for it. More than he's ever been ready for anything in his life. For the first time he's allowing himself to be selfish and think of himself and just as he's about to go he's stopped. Jamil leans against the one pillar, expression unreadable as he takes in Kalim's posture. His bag and that look in his eye. A determined, stubborn look. One that would not be swayed in this choice. It's a silent communication between them, discussing if this was truly it. Kalim is taken aback when Jamil steps forward, his expression serious. A familiar exasperation that's been there since they were children.

There's a gleam there, one Kalim has seen in his own expression these days. One that yearns for freedom, like a bird wanting to take flight. An urge to be selfish. It's that selfishness that keeps Kalim from stopping Jamil as he comes to join him. A bag of his own already ready to Kalim's surprise. It seems that Jamil knew before Kalim himself about this possibility.

Of leaving everything behind.

For the first time since they were born, they didn't think about family names or titles. They didn't think about what others would say, about what them leaving could do to their families reputation. For the first time they were not the eldest Asim and the eldest Viper. They were just Kalim and Jamil.

And it was the most freeing feeling they'd ever felt.

They disappear in the night, silent as phantoms in the Scalding Sands desert. Marking the beginning of the rest of their lives.

Free to be them.

I want to talk about Kalim's older brotherly side because I feel a lot of times, because Kalim is so cheerful, optimistic and naive to the world outside of his sheltered rich upbringing, people tend to treat him as though he's way younger than he actually is.

We don't get to see much of Kalim's family, but he is the oldest child of the Asims and has many younger siblings that he's pretty involved with-

Whenever Kalim can, he tries to interact with his younger siblings as much as possible- carrying them around, reading them stories, and playing games with them.

I'm sure Kalim doesn't have to interact with or spend time with all of his siblings, he is the heir and a very important too. But Kalim enjoys spending time with his siblings, and seems especially affectionate towards the younger ones.

Many of Kalim's siblings are around Cheka's age and even younger, and you can get a glimpse of how he interacts with little kids through his interactions with Cheka in the Sunset Savanna hometown event and the anthology manga

With kalim's older younger siblings however, he doesn't seem particularly super close to them either because of some 'cheeky phase' they develop when they grow over 10, or because the ones closest in age to Kalim may have complicated feelings over being 'spares' and that Kalim is the big important heir to the Asim fortune- Kalim makes it clear that he loves his siblings even if they act like Ace did in Playful Land (which is completely go off on a rant about how Kalim is spoiled)

Kalim can even act like an older brother towards Jamil despite being the younger one of the two by 9 months.

Although Jamil is definitely parentfied and Kalim was overly reliant on Jamil, Kalim has had moments where he's been protective over and even strict with Jamil when he's concerned,

There is a part of Kalim who is a caretaker deep down. He's someone who might feel responsible for making sure all of his siblings feel loved and seen, and he wants Jamil to be safe too. Given his willingness to be independent and not rely so much on Jamil, I'm sure he'll be implementing a lot of his brotherly skills to become someone Jamil and underclassmen can feel they can rely on in the future.

I, however, have always been team capable Kalim and want to see more of this side of him in the future. Kalim and Jamil's lives are endlessly interesting to me and I want to see more in twst (pleasepleaseplease)

thoughts visited me after scrolling Twitter and now I wonder about jealous Kalim... what type of jealous would he be...

Genuinely thinking about it: he would be sad jealous, because jealousy, if recognized, is a negative emotion, and especially if we talk about Kalim being jealous of someone getting close to Jamil – but Kalim is way too used to suppress negativity. And I think it would get worse if Kalim witnessed himself being replaced by someone else 😙 but I am curious to hear your thoughts on this. To be honest Kalim strikes me as a very secure guy who never gets jealous (being generous as his main trait), but any extreme case is possible.

And I also believe Jamil would try to make Kalim jealous on purpose because he is just evil like that (imo he'd be like the most jealous of them two, but he is unregulated and Kalim is just generally dissociative)
