Ok, out of nowhere, but it's something I found interesting while studying something. When you think of "goblin," what is the first thing that comes to mind? Like no Google search, just describe as many details as you can from "goblin" currently researching the fascinating phenomenon of goblins in myth and found almost everybody has an image in their mind of what a goblin looks like

I like to relate mythology to certain animals when it comes to design. A while ago I made a chart and I had a WIP about fairies being related to dragonflies but then my device broke and I lost it forever (oops).

For goblins I think of humanoid creatures with long ears, long noses and a slim tail. I'm unsure of their eyes (small eyes if they're underground, big eyes if they're on the surface?). I could easily relate them to a rat (rats are clever, they work in groups) but I'm not convinced since that doesn't fit the long pointy ear I'm going for and their green/brown skin color 😔

I was about to push post and then I thought "Hey maybe meerkats are a good fit, let's see what the globlin expert thinks"

Thanks for checking in. The answer is both yes and no? But leaning to yes.

My b-day has the tradition of being absolute garbage and this year was no exception. A few good things came out of it and I'm thankful for it but I'm still mentally recovering since it was recent enough, you know? The kind of bad that makes you stop drawing for a while.

I'm still drawing! Just slowly and more experimental. I forget to post art as usual. I also been busy with real life stuff and being more social (just yesterday we went to the zoo and tomorrow there's another b-day and I'm supposed to make cheesecake for him haha. I'm actually excited about it).

Wanted to do a cleaner reference for posting reasons. Um. Here's some rambling trying to resume their personalities. Praying that I didn't miss anything.

•Kirk: Divorced old man who cheated on Samantha because he was too much of a coward to properly divorce. He kept a single kid because he made her have it and regrets that his actions keep him awake at night. Lives with his mother, works as a mechanic and drinks a bit too much.

He's someone with no friends, lonely and stuck in the past. Regretting his actions because he yearns to love and to be loved (not with his ex wife, he really wants nothing to do with her) yet fearing to be step back to his old tendencies. He believes no one would want to be with him, and that it's what he deserves.

•Samantha: Divorced mother of two, refuses to let the kids see the father. Despite going to group therapy, she still has to deal with working as a cleaner and a kid who was young enough to remember dad. She's generally trying to live her best life, enjoy her time with friends/family and move on.

She has forgetful tendecies thanks to the power of unmedicated ADHD but being old enough to not take it seriously, is a bit impatient here and there but any anger shown is more of a performance than anything. Dramatic for the sake of being dramatic. She just wants to have fun and feel young.

•Karla: Divorced mother of twins and local firefighter. Meet Samantha in group therapy because her husband also cheated on her. Her kids go to the same school Kirk's kid goes to and ended up becoming friends, which meant being around the man she has heard so much about and being caught in the middle of not wanting to betray Sammy's trust and genuinely enjoying wasting time with Kirk as he's kind to her kids but a bit awkward to her. She knows a past version of him and is curious to see how he is.

She's sweet, kind and patient, too patient for her own good. She believes in giving second chances which landed her in an abussive relationship in the past. Despite this, she still believes in giving second chances regardless of what she knows because people are allowed to change and learn, because she believes the way they talk about a situation matter.

I left a lot out but listen this should be good enough to get an idea of how they are I wrote so gosh darn much I can't keep track of everything 😭 i feel so cringy just posting this

It's been a stupid amount of time since I made a serious attempt at an expression sheet. I learned that in order to fully exploit a character I need to be comfortable with unattractive features (wrinkles, gums, asymmetrical faces, going off-model) and the fact that shoulders are my friends when it comes to shape language.

Will do more. Maybe next time they won't take 12h lmao

I changed my broken device. I tolerate dark invisible colors and a broken screen just fine but apparently the moment the screen glitches and feels like a ghost is touching my screen is too much. So I GOT A NEW ONE WOOOO

And as usual I forget to share art. Been drawing the same ocs a lot lately and i dont post them because im stupid
