I realised that I haven’t posted here in a while, and some of you would like to know about progress on the Estranged! Well, first of all, the mod isn’t just the Estranged anymore. It is now known as Burnout, and adds two characters, the Estranged and the Betrayed.(More on Betrayed soon!)
I revamped the Estranged, so I thought that I should show you my progress.
First of all, the Estranged is just a pup, so while they do have a smaller food requirement, it does come with the many downsides of being a slugpup, like smaller jumps, the inability to grasp many things at once and being slightly slower and weaker in general. They also lack their map and rain timer.
But the Estranged is not just a regular slugpup, and they can use their explosive abilities to help get around these obstacles. Who needs to worry about low jump height when you can use an explosion to leap upwards?
Like their mother, the Estranged is also able to defend themselves with an explosive burst! While they cannot craft explosives(most of the time) or explosively boost propel themselves like the Artificer, they do possess the ability to parry incoming attacks!

However, they can become arguably more powerful than the Artificer, but only if they eat explosives(that are not created by them).
When the Estranged eats any explosive not created by them, they enter the "charged" state. This can be easily seen, as they passively spark and create smoke around them.
This boost allows them to craft explosives(though it needs twice as much food as the Artificer), boosts their explosive leap height, and powers up their explosive parry!
This all comes at a cost, though. If the Estranged touches water or is bitten whilst charged, they explosively die. The charged state doesn't last forever either, it is a temporary effect!
However, if you do need to return to the uncharged state, you can end it with a large and violent explosion, using up all of your charge in the process.
