rey and finn have NO IDEA about beauty standards. none. rey is a loner who grew up on a desolate desert planet, and finn spent most of his life in the regimented atmosphere of the First Order. as a result, they’re both really… innocent, i guess? or at least, they have no idea of what ~fashionably attractive~ looks like. this is especially entertaining/interesting if they’re dating Poe, who is clearly a Grade-A babe who spends a lot of time and energy on his hair.

rey is miserably unused to the weather on Luke’s rainy planet, so Poe mails her a sensible waterproof jacket with a hood.
finn misses some small familiar things about his life in the First Order, and feels guilty about it.
finn isn’t the first stormtrooper to escape the First Order – or even the hundredth. it happens pretty regularly among the low-level troops, but usually they either run away and live in obscurity, or they get caught and executed before they escape to freedom. it is incredibly rare for one of them to join the Resistance – not just because it’s hard to shake the First Order’s brainwashing, but because the Resistance is such a small and elite force. Finn doesn’t realize it yet, but people in the Resistance already see him as a hero.
