The Last Samurai: Solitude
Pt 2.

Keeping up with my kata. There are so many beautiful, meditative, and self development opportunities in the martial arts. Life preservation skills are a necessary component, but I see them as a plus to everything else a person can derive from being a practitioner.
I contemplate this especially when I'm recovering from injuries and can't train with contact. There's so much more to the art.

“At times because of one man’s evil, ten thousand people suffer. So you kill that one man to let the tens of thousands live. Here, truly, the blade that deals death becomes the sword that saves lives.”

Do not stare into the eyes of your opponent: he may mesmerize you.
Do not fix your gaze on his sword: he may intimidate you.
Do not focus on your opponent at all: he may absorb your energy.
The essence of training is to bring your opponent completely into your sphere.
Then you can stand where you like.
So long 2022, a wonderful year of martial arts transformation, and of using my budo spirit and martial mindset to overcome life's hurdles. Osu! Until next year!! Salute to my instructor, my sempai, and kohai.

For some systems Kobudo is a forgoten part of Karate. In Seido it is an essential part of the training program starting from Sho-Dan.
👊🏾💯
The journey continues.
