Brutal
I drag my body
Around the house
For something
That never was
We never put
A title on it
But I always
Called it love
On my worst nights
Dying in my solitude
I closed my eyes
Dreaming of you
Brutal reality
Awakens me from my sleep
You arenât who I thought
You out to be
Grieving the loss of you
Every step feels like an earthquake
Donât know how much more
Movement I can take
I used to call it love
Now I drag my body
Around the house
For something
That never was
when i thought i was
better off alone
you took me on a journey
three years later
youâre still the subject
of all my journal entries
stars
dear august
please tell me
thereâll be a star
at the end of this
lifeless night
and august
please say
itâll be me
6 Line Poem
I hope when you tell
The story of us
To a drunk girl at a club
You dust off my name
From your tongue
And say it with love

Storm
Control me, mould me, make me the perfect person. Scream when I donât fit your expectations.Â
Tell me what I want. Never ask. Never wonder why. Just judge and call it love.  Ignore me, until you want me Pretend that you care. Pretend itâs all my fault. Does it ease your conscience?
You make no effort.
No. My effort was used to breakthrough your storm. Now I try to find refuge.Â

First draft of this poem, what should I change?
Hereâs a Post-Grad Poemđ
Tired of Everything
When I open my eyes
To see the future is blurry,
I question whether or not
The world is distorted
Or if it is just me.
The happiness of others
Confuses the hell out of me.
How could you be pleased
When you have no concept
Of how the future will be?
My friends tell me
To live in the moment,
Get out of my head for once,
Put away my anxiety
Like itâs car keys.
But, I canât help wondering
Why they donât feel things
As deeply as me.
When I open my eyes
I want to see what the
World has in store for me.
Iâm tired of it being blurry.
Iâm tired of feeling so deeply.
Iâm tired of everything.
All I want is some clarity.
God, if youâre hearing me
The next time I open my eyes
Please open the door for
My fears to leave
The next time I open my eyes
Please let me feel peace
not your equal
sheâs a storm you wanted to stop but you couldnât move her the way she moved you you should have known then she isnât the one for you you like women you can tame but sheâs too powerful to be influenced by the likes of you chaotic, loud, and powerful sheâs not the kind of woman who will spend her life dreaming of ways to accommodate you
every step she takes she learns how to stand her ground when she realizes the full extent of her capability she will rule the world like itâs her childhood playground
the best advice i have for you is to save your time and energy leave before you try anything you are a mere mortal to her god it is foolish to think for a second you can offer her anything but your mediocrity women like her are to be worshiped not mistaken for your equalÂ

champagne problems
you gave roses to a woman who couldnât take care of herself and were flabbergasted when the bouquet of flowers died early
you gave a ring to a woman who couldnât love you back and were flabbergasted when she broke your heart severely
you want to blame her for it all but she didnât mean to hurt you she tried her best to be the one for you but she was too broken from her past to be the person you wanted her to
later on in your life when it hurts less youâll realize her leaving was the best thing she could do for you because she deserves someone who doesnât want her to change who she is and you deserve someone who can care and love both herself and you Mali Marks, author of âNina Is Tryingâ
Hi! My name is Mali, and Iâm a self-published author of the book âNina Is Tryingâ. For the past few months, Iâve been working really hard to turn my book into an audiobook. With this said, I am really happy to announce that the audiobook version of âNina Is Tryingâ is available now for under $7.
Making the price affordable was really important to me because I wanted the book to be as accessible as possible, while still valuing the work I put into it. Adding onto this, if you are a poetry lover, please consider buying my book. If my book is too expensive and you want to read it, please reach out to me to work something out.
If you want to support living artists, please reblog this post to help me reach a poetry lover.

Nina Is Trying, Mali Marks
This poem is about your ex coming back into your life and breaking your heart *again*
If you truly loved me You wouldnât have talked About the future Allowing me dream If you truly loved me You would have Caught me on the Brink of loving you And warned me About what being Yours means If you truly loved me You would have told me: Roses die and love does too Donât get attached because âI love youâ will turn into âI am leaving youâ If you truly loved me You would have let me be You wouldnât have Plucked me out of The ground like a daisy Beautifully destroying me  To love someone is to Fight for their preservation Mali Marks, author of âNina Is Tryingâ.
