The wolf nosed at the corner of Eddie's jaw, nudging its snout over his cheek. Every fiber of Eddie's being wanted to revolt, to flinch away; some small part of him wanted to lean in. It nuzzled him, nosing over his face, and he could hear every measured breath, feel every exhale warming his skin before it reluctantly drew back. Something played about its eyes, some expectation. It wanted something from Eddie, was waiting for him to … to what? Impatient, the beast huffed, ducking its head and peering at Eddie through its lashes. The gesture reminded him of nothing so much as — "Buck."

On a lonely night of missing Christopher, Eddie nearly falls prey to a vampire. Buck saves him at the cost of his most deeply held secret.

after buck and eddie get together if there isn’t a shot where they’re walking and holding hands and buck bumps their shoulders together and they separate a little but then eddie pulls him back in by their still connected hands i will have a nervous breakdown

okay wait. stay with me. the shot is focused on shoulders-up at first. they’re talking as they’re walking next to each other. buck bumps eddie intentionally, emphasizing whatever point he’s making. they both step back, just a little bit to reverse their momentum. camera pans down. eddie reaches out and grabs bucks hand as he continues the argument, interlacing their fingers and pulling buck back to him firmly enough that they bump into each other again. buck cannot think of a comeback because he’s so distracted

Buck freezes, staring wide-eyed at his wall as though with enough conviction he could render it transparent. On the other side, Eddie lies in bed, unaware his phone is still connected, still broadcasting sound through Buck’s speakers. Where he’s awake, where he's watching— “Such a gorgeous fuckin’ mouth, fuck—” —because Eddie wants to— or he’s trying to…  “Suck on it, yeah, like that, suck it up—”  Belatedly, Buck realises he’s already on his feet. Compulsion has coiled around him like a silken leash, tugging him out of his bedroom and down the hallway towards the guest room.

Okay, expanding on the thing I said the other day about Buck and Eddie being in a deadlock. Like, Buck is reacting to Eddie's perceived straightness, Eddie is reacting to the rejection that comes with Buck refusing to look because he thinks Eddie is straight. Eddie doesn't think he has to come out because he doesn't want a random guy, and the guy he wants doesn't want him. And Buck just refuses to look at it. And it's interesting with the construction on sunset and the Eddie driving for most of the time, also the car being yellow. Eddie is reacting to Buck's instructions. Because he thinks he knows what Buck looks like when he's in love, and he doesn't see that behavior toward him. So he ends up helping them get lost. But Eddie is driving the car because Buck's only defense against his feelings is Eddie being straight. The bigger issue here now that Buck is settled into his sexuality is that he's too scared to lose Eddie to do something to jeopardize their friendship. And the only way this works is if they agree on a route. Eddie is not gonna take the path he wants if Buck doesn't say he's there with him and Buck thinks he has no control because Eddie is driving the car. Fascinating representation of the stalemate between them. And I'm curious on how this is gonna develop as someone who really really really doesn't want Eddie to clue Buck into his own feelings, especially with how much progress Buck made this season about what he wants.

Eddie may be driving, but Buck rented the car. Like, Eddie is not going to do something Buck doesn't want. Even if it means them getting stuck in traffic, or getting lost, or ending up sitting in a diner in the middle of nowhere while Buck eats the whole menu watching mildly annoyed with his single cup of coffee. Because yeah, Eddie is tired and grumpy, but he's not actually angry, he just wants to go home and Buck keeps telling them to take the least straight forward path possible. And Eddie could take over. He could put his foot down and stay on the highway. The same way could've said what he means at any of the moments we know Eddie was biting his tongue to hold his feelings back. But he doesn't want to force Buck into the road he wants. And Buck thinks he needs to make the most of the journey because he doesn't believe he gets to go home with Eddie at the end of this so he's taking what he thinks he can get while Eddie is letting him dictate everything about how they go. The same way Buck never asks for anything he wants, he just goes with the flow, Eddie never asks for the pieces of Buck he has. Even the will somehow only comes into play after Buck willingly stepped up as a parent. But Eddie was sitting on it for a year before Buck caught up. Eddie won't make a single turn before Buck lets him know his ready for it. Because either they both agree to it, or Eddie is gonna spend his whole life wondering if he forced Buck into this.

during a quiet night at the station harry turns to ravi and says 'hey rav, fuck marry kill, chim, eddie or buck?'

'obviously kill buck-' 'oh yeah, obviously' (buck, lifting his head up from where he's sprawled in a recliner: hey.) '-fuck eddie, I've got eyes. marry chim for the sweet captain privileges.'

(eddie, from the other recliner, without lifting his head: nice.)

'hey cap,' harry hollers, 'fuck marry kill, ravi, eddie or buck?'

'I'm pretty sure this is a HR violation,' says chim from where he's doing admin at the dining table. 'but uhhh. buck, I'm sorry, you're my brother and I love you, but I can’t. I've gotta kill you-'

(What the fuck?? says buck)

'transfer ravi to another house and then fuck him, I guess. eddie, I'll marry you.'

(yeah ok says eddie around a big yawn)

chim says, 'hen, you're exempt, lesbian card in play.' (thank you lord says hen without looking up from the book she's reading.) 'harry, you're exempt because I need to be able to look your mom in the eyes'

(And because he's, what? twelve? mutters buck.

Im eighteen and three quarters, hisses harry.

Spoken like a true 12 year old)

'buckaroo, fuck marry kill, eddie, ravi or-'

'I'm killing ravi.'

'ah, ah, let me finish! eddie, ravi or your truly.'

'kill ravi. then uh. Uh.' buck clears his throat. (hen lowers her book.) 'I'm uh, I'll marry chim, he, you know, I already know he's a good husband. a-and jee and nash are already buckley hans, so that's. convenient.'

'and you'll fuck eddie,' hen concludes, placidly.

'as a friend.'

'you don't want to marry me?' eddie says, sounding a little hurt.

'I - it's not that I don't want to marry you, I just really don't wanna fuck chim or ravi.'

'so you do want to fuck eddie,' ravi says.

'you said you'd fuck eddie!'

'well duh. I mean, i'm straight but look at him.'

'I'm always looking at him!!!'

an awkward silence. harry, deeply confused, whispers 'what is happening?'

'it's my turn,' says eddie, 'kill ravi. fuck chim, as a friend. marry buck.'
