My name is Michaela Saunders . . . or just Mac.

I’ve spent much of my life involved in creative writing and journaling.

Even as a young child, I’d scribble away on paper before I could form letters.

Finally, it seems I’ve found my forté with poetry.

Putting Work into Neon Magic

I'm grinding poetry into small crisps,

fleeing with watercolor page designs in the night.

A writer is hard at work,

& the biggest concern right now is the finalized cover reveal.

Flowers, backgrounds, colors, & fonts

will make a complete work of art I'm proud

to call some of my hardest work.

This book has blown my aspirations out of the water.

To be a Human Collage

I have been sleepless in all I am,

literally suffering for my art.

I have begun my show for the world;

many do have their moment to shine.

Some never are so blessed, but here am I:

wings spread loose, a human collage of self-expression.

Disaster can strike, but it should not.

Chances are better that dreams are finally coming true.

To Ever Look Back on Suffering

I think back on feeble concepts of what's after,

yet I had no idea how I was going to get where I am today.

Yet I made it, after once being trapped with my bridges to burn.

Years later, here, I am found.

We needed space to bloom, room to have room.

& even regrading how you treated me, I will always love you.

I know if America were not greedy,

she would not be as skewed as I when dues aren't paid.

Dripping honeydew over woes,

I am but a peasant in the alternating changes of life.

I've had a significant one away from work,

yet it is not enough. I direct these hours.

I value care over freedom.

I am care, but money equals liberty & death.

Losing Faith in Sundays

A bearded dragon contacted me with an invitation;

then extended his chameleon tongue that he understands.

Perhaps, but dragons are dragons.

They are mythological dreams of what's been fathomed.

You carry comfort to bed, except for with nightmares.

Why am I to judge?

You are simply lost in a different way than I.

We Are All Slowly Dying

I have a decent ten years left above the sea.

It's fine by me, for it is tiring to be anything.

Even sans the suicidal, I've a monster that ever antagonizes.

You must work until you live until you die.

Does anyone want to waste me away on this losing dream?

Still, some days, I'd rather fund my watery grave.

reading sylvia plath is like ok i need to read this poem 673 times because i don’t know what sheis talking about and then i read an analysis and the floor opens up under my feet and i get swallowed whole by the earth

I Have Nothing Figured Out

I had a very difficult time one night,

& she still weaves webs over my head.

As such, I took off the following,

& told me I had nothing figured out.

Not my degree, not my work, not my writing.

I am determined to make my watermarks

a watercolor war.

It's wild how we have life not even in a final draft

when our stories tragically end.
