A soft, hushed voice resonated through the void of pitch black you were surrounded by. Where were you? Who was that voice? Just moments ago, you were crossing the street at a green light, on your way to visit a friend when suddenly the sound of a loud motor and tires screeching…

“Like a good novel, all things must come to an end…and unfortunately…that includes much of life.”

A dim, white light fades in in front of you. The light slowly morphs into the outline of a pale, cloaked figure. In their hand was a scythe much larger than they were. Another cookie it was. At their feet, patches of black flowers grew quickly to replace the emptiness. They stretched out their gloved hand to you, urging you to take it.

“Your soul will finally be at rest…Accept death as part of life…and all will be quick and painless for you.”

“Somethin’ catch your eye, love?”

The glittering, glamorous display cases of jewelry and gold were the first things you notice upon wandering into what seems to be a small pawn shop, situated on the street of one of the less-busy roads in town. Despite being called a pawn shop, it looked just like any fancy jewelry store. The gold and silver-chain necklaces and expensive-looking earrings held on black velvet boards proved that much, at least.

The shopkeeper, a single, short cookie with two long antennae-looking strands of hair growing out of their forehead, smiles at you in a friendly manner.

“Anythin’ in the cases interest ya? You’re welcome to try somethin’ on if ya want. Or are ya here to sell somethin’ shiny…Maybe borrow some cash?”

A cheerful grin spreads across their face. You can’t help but feel something slightly devious from it.

“No pressure though. If ya got questions, don’t be ‘fraid to ask!”
