My favorite banned terms on this site are "suicide prevention" and "safe sex"

modern au curt and owen (other than being, as well written characters often are, very hard to divorce from their context) would be in a constant petty argument over which one of them is the roger rabbit and which one of them is the jessica rabbit
"i watched as my partner owen was killed right in front of me"

"This story is a tragedy because it was always going to end this way."

Holy shit new SAF edit!! This idea has been cooking in my head for months now, but I finally got the motivation to put it together. This song always makes me think about the cyclical nature of theatre.
Happy 10 years of Spies Are Forever! (Thanks @smytherines for inspiring the bts portion and also having so many clips consolidated on your blog, you’re a life saver fr)
Song: The Windmills of Your Mind by Mel Torme
I love seeing couples in Starkid and seeing how they are cast in relation to each other because with Curt and Kim, their characters a lot of the time have some kind of romantic tension or are just a couple and then with Lauren and Joey’s characters it’s always “OH THESE TWO HATE EACH OTHER”
imagine if the person who turns you into a vampire turns out to be really annoying and you’re stuck with them
asking out of curiosity but.in a situation where curt has super powers what would u think his would be
SOMETHING related to time. the ability to rewind, but only confined to a few seconds.
the one thing he would Want to go back and stop he’s unable to, so he uses it to try and fix what he couldn’t before
watching his friends die over and over again until he finds the one path for them to survive. he can save them but only he remembers all the times he failed. saving everyone while losing his mind in the process
mmm no I’m thinking about actor!owen getting to be in a production of Falsettos again. It doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t. No matter how you slice it Falsettos is far too recent for Owen to feasibly play any role. Not unless you fuck with the timeline and that doesn’t interest me.
Also the onstage kiss wasn’t added until the 2016 revival, iirc, but.
But.
I just keep circling my head around the idea of canon era Owen, having taken a different path in life but still having to hide himself for so long, kissing a man live on stage and having so many feelings about that.
And I don’t know how Curt would tie into this because like. If Owen wasn’t a spy they never would have met. Or if Owen became an actor after the events of canon somehow, which is also nonsense but. This idea is already nonsensical so just bear with me.
Does he see Curt in Marvin? In his desperation to be seen as straight, in his hang ups around masculinity? In his immaturity? Does he see himself in Marvin’s bitterness and need to win? Does he see Curt in Whizzer and his dramatic flair? Does he see himself in Whizzer’s bone-deep fear of vulnerability? Does an Owen who was abandoned in the silo hear Whizzer’s anguish and anger in The Games I Play and understand viscerally what it’s like the be left by someone you love in spite of yourself, and despite the fact that they just don’t seem to love you back in the same way? Does he listen to You Gotta Die Sometime and relate to Whizzer’s need to go out with dignity, which he was never afforded?
Does he hear The Thrill of First Love and The Chess Game and remember how he and Curt would fight over stupid things? How the conflict defined their relationship as much as the love did? Does he listen to What More Can I Say and remember those rare quiet moments where everything felt like it was going to be okay?
Does he hear Days Like This and Unlikely Lovers and resent the fact that he had no one by his side when he was trapped in Russia/taken by Chimera and dying? Does it remind him how lonely it was and how much he both longed for Curt’s presence and hated Curt for not being there?
What does he think of What Would I Do? and the line “all your life you wanted men, and when you got it up to have them, who knew it could end your life”? In the show proper that line is already a great double entendre regarding Marvin metaphorically blowing up his entire life to be with Whizzer (the meaning Marvin takes from the line, which is SO telling) and Marvin literally dying of AIDS after the show ends. But I wonder what that line would mean to Owen, who died at the hands of the man he loved twice. If he’s playing Marvin, does he get to sing “I’d do it again. I’d like to believe I’d do it again and again and again” and does he mean it? Or does it feel like a horrible lie that he can only force out on account of his great acting skills?
Idk man just. Thinking about queer men and lovers come and lovers go. Lovers live and die fortissimo. What does it mean to play a character who’s a more honest portrayal of you than you could ever be? What could it mean to Owen?
why would we speak this thought into existence.
The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals characters reactions to you coming out as trans:
Paul: "Okay." He does not care, he just wants to get back to work. You might as well have just told him you like birds.
Emma: Genuinely supportive and offers resources where she can, has extensive knowledge of the Hatchetfield LGBT underground despite claiming to be straight herself.
Bill: He tries, might forget your pronouns sometimes, but he's making an effort. Maybe a bit too performative about it at least at work.
Charlotte: Tbh I don't feel like she'd be as accepting, not actively hateful but maybe too caught up in her own problems to notice. You'll have to come out to her repeatedly because it keeps slipping her mind, and the conversation ends up about her marital life anyway.
Ted: If you're trans-masc he tries to talk you out of it, talking about how you're perfectly beautiful and fuckable the way you are. If you're transfem he *instantly* starts hitting on and sexually harassing you. Something is very deeply wrong with this man, but if anyone would be a trans inclusive misogynist, its him.
Hidgens: Being transfem means you're no longer able to be cast in Workin Boys, so he's no longer interested in talking to you. Being transmasc means you're one of THE BOYSSS
Pokey: infects you with his nasty blue shit because That's What He Does
