I’m brand-new to Tumblr and still trying to figure out how this all works 😭
I’m an autistic fanfic writer who’s too anxious to post any of their works, but I love, love, love writing and characters and dissecting characters so much. My favorite fics to write are long, story-driven, elaborate AUs that delve into the characters, their feelings, and tons of headcanons. Oh, also, and with tons of angst and like, no shipping or romance at all (I’m AroAce so it just doesn’t really interest me much)
I cosplay, too, but I’m not planning on posting about it here.
I’d really, really love to make some friends who are also obsessed with Horizons lol. Tbh my only reason for joining Tumblr is because I can’t find a single way to make Horizons friends IRL, I actually hate social media and texting so much. I’d much rather meet people IRL at cons or something but I feel like no cons nowadays have any space to just… talk to people.
My biggest interest right now is Pokemon Horizons (obviously lol), and my favorite character is Liko!!! She is literally so important to me. She is the subject of most of my writing nowadays.

I don’t think, canonically, they mean for Liko’s family to read as dysfunctional (or, at least, as concerningly dysfunctional instead of lighthearted dysfunctional).
I think the writers probably meant for her parents to just be “busy”, and them all to love one another and whatever.
Instead, we end up with Liko seeming distant from her father and showing no interest in seeing him or staying home, and so much worse than that, her mom, after specially contacting the RVTs to keep Liko safe, refusing to go home to see her.
There are many more canon instants you can pull upon for Liko’s parents being neglectful, such as IMO the flashback clip from the second theme song, in which we see young Liko seemingly sad to be ignored by her parents at a market (I mean the colors wash out as she freezes staring at their backs. At this point Lucca is refusing to look at/meet eyes with Liko exactly like how later Cervantis refuses to with Amethio). But let’s talk, for a second, about what Liko’s mom, Lucca’s childhood, might have been like.
So, Diana. I love her to bits and pieces, and she doesn’t have a phone and Liko thought it was more likely Amethio was a creeping guy trying to abduct her than that her grandma would write her a letter.
It’s an ongoing gag that Diana is impossible to contact, and Diana is also known for never staying in one place, always being out and adventuring.
Lucca is…. Strangely normal compared to her entire family. Like she’s Just A Regular Mom in character design, occupation, and personality. She’s like the one neurotypical in a line of autistics lol.
It’s not that Lucca couldn’t have liked adventure, or been a Trainer herself, but we see no proof of that (Heck, since she’s not in episode 9, Fidough really comes off as Alex’s Pokemon instead of hers, so I don’t tend to assume Lucca has any Pokemon).
If she has no particular interest in adventure, well, it would have been easy for her childhood and early-adult life to have been spent with blocks of time where her mom simply… Wasn’t home.
Diana could’ve been out adventuring and honestly, Diana, being so free-spirited and well, confident, could easily have assumed Lucca was ready to care for herself/be left home alone much earlier than she should have been.
But, well, what would be Diana’s reference for how much attention a child needs is, anyways? Let’s look at her mother, Layla.
Layla is Rystal’s child (Given Lucius was out of the picture by the point she was born). And Rystal died young, though we don’t know how young.
It’s entirely possible that Layla had to fend for herself from a very, very young age, because she was orphaned.
And, well, even if she wasn’t… What sort of headspace was Rystal in? Because it couldn’t be a good one for raising a child.
She just lost everyone she loves, human and Pokemon alike, and was left with, well, nothing. She surely sparsely had energy to give Layla attention, especially when, well, she was a traveler. It’s possible she didn’t even have a home of her own to return to, and we have no backstory on Rystal’s own home-life and if she had family to fall back on.
The true moral here is, I think Rystal, through circumstances entirely out of her control, accidentally started a chain of normalized neglect through Liko’s lineage. I don’t think it was intentional, and I think all these people love their children (Though Lucca is on thin ice because of the way I happen to analyze her), they just don’t realize this problem that started a 100-or-so years ago.
I think Rystal couldn’t give Layla the attention she needed, and that made Layla think that’s normal, and copy Rystal’s parenting, ending up neglectful towards Diana (Who didn’t notice it, because she was too busy running off into adventures), and then Diana ended up copying her mom’s neglect onto Lucca, and so on.

💫 Liko was badly emotionally neglected by her parents which kinda just fucked her over as someone who was already pretty lonely and out of touch with her own feelings and left her with the weirdness she has to deal with now when it comes to socializing. The RVTs helped break her out of it tho

But like seriously, that’s such a critical part to how I view Liko (and of course it all overlaps with autism and leads to Liko struggling so hard with connecting with people at first)

There’s soooo much in the show that can point to it tbh. I know I started drafting a post about it forever ago, but I kind of want to rewatch the episode where she goes home before posting it (because I KNOW I’ll have more to say after I rewatch it lol), but I’m so glad to see someone else analyzing her this way😭😭😭

Hmmm a good question. I’m always on board for Amethio joining the RVTs, but at this point Zirc and Onia better come with him because they are a TRIO do not separate!!!
In terms of Explorers, I just loveeeee when people make “Liko ends up with the Explorers” AUs. I love any of the RVTs becoming Explorers honestly, mostly for the drama and angst potential of it all lol.

Okay I’m gonna put a few different ones here!!!
☀️Roy will sing along to anything. Because of that, the RVT adults had to change out what songs they listen to, because Friede would rather not try to explain to Roy’s grandpa where he learned all these curses from
☀️Spinel’s Umbreon cares for him, and as such, often ends up being the one to force Spinel to take breaks from researching and reminds him to eat. I kind of headcanon this because of how it can parallel how I think Dot and Quaxly work, almost like their Pokemon are service animals helping them with tasks (Like, they might bring their hyperfixated Trainer a bottle of water and meds when they forget to take them while engulfed in computer research)
☀️This is one me and a friend on Instagram have talked about before, but Liko will sometimes put on like. ASMR, satisfying slime video type content to entertain Pagogo, who is absolutely mesmerized by it lol
☀️I’m not really into shipping characters, HOWEVER, I do adore found family. As such I loveeeee the trope of the kids accidentally and/or jokingly (at least at first-) calling the RVT adults mom/dad akdhdkhdidhdkfndicn

I LOVEEEEE the idea of service animal Pokemon because like,,,,,,,,, Pokemon have so many different powers. There’s just so many fun opportunities there!!!
💙 Favourite human character - It's gotta be Mollie. I know Ryme is technically also in it but she's not in it much so I'm gonna say Mollie counts more.
💛 Favourite Pokémon Character - I have a soft spot for Amethio's Ceruledge because its kind of quietly protective of him and I get the impression its always ready to throw down on his behalf.
🧡 Favourite Episode - Episode 76 Wynaut?! Wy-Yes! Just because it gives Mollie lots of screentime and some backstory for her.
💜 Character I'd like to join the RVT - Amethio because it would amuse me
💚 Favourite Fanfic or Fanart I've seen - There's that Mollie/Orla comic where Orla kisses Mollie's cheek and Liko sees and says to Sprigatito they're good friends and Sprigatito looks at her like wow you're dumb. It makes me laugh every time I see it and I consider it canon.
💖 Horizons fanfic/art I'm currently working on - I did start a picture of Mollie and my kid OC the other day but I'm a slow art maker. I'd like to write the fic about that OC at some point.
☀️Cute/Funny/Fluffy Headcanon - I don't know if this counts but Mollie like to keep everything tidy whereas Orla is organised chaos this causes some light hearted arguments.
🌧️Angst/Sad/Dark Headcanon - I have absolutely no basis for this other than I enjoy being evil to fictional characters. (TW: Abuse) As a kid Orla lived in Kanto with her dad, her dad was an arsehole and emotionally and physically abused her. She eventually told her best friend Friede who got his parents involved and they reported it and she then went to live with her Aunt and Uncle in Hoenn.
🌈 LGBTQIA.Headcanons - Mollie and Orla are Lesbians. Friede and Murdock are gay. Liko is bi. Dot is non binary and gay. Amethio is a trans man and also either gay or bi.
💫 Backstory Headcanons I already said about Orla's in the angsty Headcanon bit... I guess after she goes to love with her Aunt and Uncle things look up for her and she has a good relationship with them.
Mollie's mum contacts her a lot and she talks to her more than she likes. She will forget to tell her important things about her life in her haste to get off the phone with her (like how in the AU with my OC she just straight up doesn't tell her family she's got a son now)
🌸Who I want to be friends with - Obviously Mollie I think she'd be a good friend and give good hugs. Also Orla would be cool.
💐 Predictions - I can't say because I'm not completely caught up. I need to go watch it but there wasn't being enough Mollie. My prediction is there will be very little Mollie screen time. Which makes me sad.

🧡 - it's really hard to pick a favourite but as of rn 155-156 is my fav, including both because the two eps together bleed in to each other so well it's almost impossible to love one without loving the other.
the battles were so good, the animation popped off, liko vs spinel was so peak, the ending was so bittersweet which is one of my favourite types of endings. the writing for these two eps has been some of the best of the show.
💜 - i wish amethio would have joined the rvts, that would be have been cool.
it would be interesting to see liko join the explorers, the way i see this happening is in ep 14 rather than spinel brainwashing liko and just taking the pendant he actually kidnaps her and she joins the explorers. would make an interesting au.
🌟 - friede can sing and can play the guitar, idk why this is just a hc ive had for a while. he looks like someone who can sing and play an instrument of some description, i think it would be the guitar.
bonus points being roy being the one to discover this hidden talent of friede's, they bond over this.
🌧 - roy takes A LOT of photos of everyone, he started doing since he joined the rvts. at first no one questioned it but after a while liko and dot asked him about it and he explained that he likes taking photos of precious memories because you never know when you won't be able to make more with certain people anymore (referring to his parents)
for a while after ep 89 when he was travelling on his own, he would just stare at the photos for hours, sometimes crying other times just staring blankly

haven't given a lot of thought for my lgbtq+ hcs for characters outside the rvts
my favourite ships consist orimori (orla x mollie), likodot, murchill (murdock x mitchell), karnorla (orla x karna) and one of my all time fav ships that doesn't involve the rvts is lucigib (i think that's what it's called)
💫 - funny thing is i was actually writing up my headcanons for friede's parents so this is the perfect opportunity to talk about those.
i think friede's father is dead, friede has an aviator jacket for the first chunk of horizons, i like to hc that that came from his dad, who was an aviator pilot. which based on the patches on the jacket being an aviator most likely involved riding charizards.
from this i hc friede's dad gifted him a charmander as his first pokemon because as a child friede wanted to follow in his dad's footsteps until he died in action.
i think this caused a strain between friede and his mum, who became overbearingly protective after his dad's death. and the two haven't actually spoken in years.
